Switch to New Outlook
Learn how to switch to New Outlook.
When to use
We need to switch to New Outlook whenever we want to use Copilot to draft, reply to, and edit emails.
Instructions
Copilot predominately works in the new version of Outlook. However, we do have the ability to use Copilot to summarize emails in old Outlook.
- Open an email in the reading pane.
- Click Summarize.
Copilot will summarize the selected email and organize the information into digestible key points.
Switch to New Outlook
- Click the Try the new Outlook toggle to on.
- Outlook will restart. New Outlook will be loaded.
- 00:04 It's time now to move on to talking about Copilot in Outlook, because there's
- 00:10 some really cool features that are going to help us draft and rewrite emails.
- 00:15 Now, when it comes to working with Copilot in Outlook, unlike the other applications,
- 00:20 we don't have to do things like save to a specific location.
- 00:23 But there is one really important thing that we do need to do.
- 00:26 Now we need to switch to new Outlook, because not all of Copilot's features and
- 00:31 functionality are in the desktop version of Outlook.
- 00:35 Now I'm working in the desktop at the moment,
- 00:38 notice we have a Summarize button in the corner which I've just clicked on, and
- 00:42 it's basically created a summary of the email below.
- 00:45 But that is kind of the only thing that we have when we're working in
- 00:49 Desktop Outlook.
- 00:50 So in order to be able to use the full functionality of Copilot, we need to make
- 00:55 sure we toggle the Try the New Outlook button in the top right-hand corner.
- 01:00 This is going to open up new Outlook, which if you're not used to it,
- 01:04 has a bit of a different look and feel, but
- 01:06 this is going to allow us to use Copilot in its fullest form.
- 01:10 Notice we have Summary by Copilot at the top, and if we click on Reply and
- 01:14 go to the Message tab, we have a Copilot icon with two little menu items in there,
- 01:19 Draft with Copilot, and Coaching by Copilot.
- 01:22 And at the bottom we have some suggested prompts.
- 01:26 So this is where you need to get to in order to proceed
- 01:30 through the next few lessons.
