Treemaps and Sunburst Charts
Display hierarchical information using Treemap and Sunburst Charts.
When to use
We use a treemap chart when we want to display hierarchical information using nested rectangles with each rectangle representing a category or sub-category. A sunburst chart is also used to display hierarchical information in a circular format.
Instructions
A treemap chart in Excel is a visualization tool used to display hierarchical data using nested rectangles. Each rectangle represents a category or sub-category, and its size is proportional to a specific value, such as sales, population, or any other metric. Treemap charts are useful for providing a compact and detailed view of large amounts of hierarchical data, allowing for easy comparisons between different parts of the hierarchy.
A sunburst chart in Excel is a visualization tool used to display hierarchical data in a circular format. Each level of the hierarchy is represented as a ring or circle, with the innermost circle representing the top-level categories and the outer rings representing sub-categories. Sunburst charts are useful for visualizing the proportion and relationship of parts to the whole, making it easy to see the contribution of each segment within the hierarchy.
