- 00:05 One of the great advantages of using Google Drive is the millions and
- 00:09 millions of users, which makes Google Drive popular.
- 00:13 And as a result, there’s a number of third-party applications that
- 00:17 integrate directly with Google Drive.
- 00:20 Now, a third party application is some piece of functionality
- 00:24 that was not designed by Google, but was designed to make it easier for
- 00:28 you to work with certain files within Drive.
- 00:32 To access and review the number of third party apps available,
- 00:36 we wanna select the New button > More > Connect more apps.
- 00:44 This will bring up a new dialogue window where we can scan and
- 00:48 search a large variety of third party apps.
- 00:52 Again, this is gonna make it easier for you to edit and
- 00:56 make certain changes within Google Drive.
- 00:59 You do not need to add additional apps but you may want to review and
- 01:04 preview some of the functionality which is available here.
- 01:07 So, for example, PicMonkey is a very popular tool for editing images.
- 01:13 If I click on it, I can read some more details about what this PicMonkey app will
- 01:18 do, and how I might be able to use it
- 01:20 along with reading some reviews as it pertains to Google Drive.
- 01:25 If I wish to connect this app, I simply select the blue Connect button.
- 01:30 It will tell me that it's connect and it may give me some additional options.
- 01:34 In this example, it's asking if I'd like to make PicMonkey the default app for
- 01:39 files it can open.
- 01:40 I'm gonna leave that checked and say OK.
- 01:44 I'm gonna close this dialog window.
- 01:46 And now, when I'm dealing with an image, let me open up this one as an example,
- 01:51 you can see at the top I can go directly to PicMonkey.
- 01:55 I don't need to copy and paste anything.
- 01:57 I don't need to download and upload.
- 02:00 I can directly go to PicMonkey and edit this image from within Google Drive.
- 02:06 Now, what if you've made a mistake or
- 02:08 what if you've downloaded something that you don't wish to use anymore?
- 02:12 Let's look at how we can remove a third party app.
- 02:15 To do so, we wanna click the Settings icon > Settings option.
- 02:22 On the left-hand side of your screen,
- 02:23 you will see that there is a menu called Manage Apps.
- 02:27 And here you will see a list of all the apps available to you
- 02:31 including the native Google apps such as Docs and Drawings.
- 02:36 If I scroll down to the bottom of this list,
- 02:38 here you can see PickMonkey, the third party app in which I just connected.
- 02:44 If I select Options, I've got two choices.
- 02:47 One, I can view the product page,
- 02:49 that’s where we see those details where we first connected the application.
- 02:54 Or I can choose to disconnect it from Drive.
- 02:56 I’m gonna select that option, it’s gonna ask me to confirm, I’m gonna say,
- 03:01 Disconnect.
- 03:02 And now, I am no longer connected to PicMonkey.
- 03:07 So, again, select NEW > More > Connect more apps.
- 03:14 It'll be worth your time to review some of the third-party apps,
- 03:17 some of the apps that you may already be using and
- 03:20 see how you can use see them directly from within Drive.
