Login to download- 00:04 Well, congratulations, everybody for
- 00:06 making it all the way through to the end of this course.
- 00:09 We have covered so much over the last few hours.
- 00:13 So, right now it's time just to slow down, stop and reflect on all of our learning.
- 00:20 And if you can remember all the way back to Section 1,
- 00:24 we started out with a very brief introduction to Access,
- 00:27 before moving on to Section 2 getting started with Access.
- 00:32 In this section, we covered all of the things that we need to set ourselves up
- 00:37 for success such as customising the quick access toolbar, and
- 00:40 knowing where to go to get help.
- 00:43 We also learnt about the basics of how we can open close and
- 00:47 create databases as well as using Templates.
- 00:50 Section 3 was where the hard work really began,
- 00:53 where we shifted our focus towards the backbone of Access and that is tables.
- 00:59 We saw numerous different ways that we can create different tables,
- 01:03 we looked at adding fields, setting field properties and
- 01:07 we learned about indexing and primary keys.
- 01:10 In the next section, I showed you how you can
- 01:13 import data into an Access table from a text file and also from Excel.
- 01:18 And then we explored all of the options that you have when you're working in
- 01:22 DataSheet view.
- 01:23 In the next section, I showed you how you can create relationships
- 01:27 between your different tables and
- 01:30 how you can create links tables for tables that don't share a common field.
- 01:34 We learnt about one to many relationships and also referential integrity.
- 01:39 In the next section, we started building forms and I showed you numerous
- 01:43 different ways that you can build your own user forms to interact with your data.
- 01:49 We looked at form controls and formatting and how we can move the fields around.
- 01:55 And then we moved on to taking a look at how we can add sub forms to our main form.
- 02:00 Next, we looked at how we can build queries using Query Design and
- 02:05 the Query Wizard to return results based on criteria that we specify.
- 02:10 And then I showed you the basics of how you can
- 02:13 perform calculations using expressions.
- 02:17 We then moved on to taking a look at how we can build a very basic reports and
- 02:21 then I showed you how easy it was to build your own more complex custom reports.
- 02:26 We also looked at report design and
- 02:29 how we can change the look and feel of our reports.
- 02:32 In the next section, we explored a couple more data types the yes no check box and
- 02:38 the attachment data type.
- 02:39 And I showed you how these can be really useful when putting together your forms.
- 02:45 We then went on to speak a little bit more about forms, but
- 02:49 more focused on the design of the forms.
- 02:52 So we explored a few more of the form controls.
- 02:55 We did a bit more related to form design.
- 02:58 And I also showed you how you can create a navigation
- 03:02 form to control which parts of the database your users can see.
- 03:06 And then finally, we took a whiz round access options,
- 03:10 and took a look at things like compact, and
- 03:12 repair, and how we can encrypt, or protect our database with a password.
- 03:18 I also showed you how you can modify your database properties.
- 03:22 So that is it, we've covered so much in this course.
- 03:26 As always there is so much more that you can learn on this subject we're really
- 03:30 just scraping this surface here.
- 03:33 If you have enjoyed this course then I would encourage you
- 03:36 to seek out an Access Advanced course to further your skills even more.
- 03:40 But for now, my biggest recommendation to you is simply to run through this course
- 03:44 at your own pace.
- 03:46 Use the course files, use the exercise files, and just practice, practice,
- 03:50 practice, because that is the only way that you're going to learn.
- 03:55 So we are pretty much done.
- 03:56 All that's left is for me to say my goodbyes.
- 03:59 I thank you so much for joining me today.
- 04:02 I had a really great time hosting this course.
- 04:05 Hope to see you again soon.
- 04:06 Bye bye.
