Quick reference
Instructions
To add shapes to your Favorites:
- Right click on any shape, click on Add to My Shapes, and then Favorites.
To access your Favorite shapes:
- Click on More Shapes, and then My Shapes, and then Favorites to view the Favorites Stencil.
- 00:04 In a previous lesson, I showed you how to find and search for
- 00:08 different shapes in different stencils.
- 00:12 Of course, you can pick on search over here and type in something, or
- 00:15 you can pick more shapes and you'll find many other stencils.
- 00:19 But, what if there's shapes that you use all the time?
- 00:22 Then we can mark them as the favorites.
- 00:25 So for example, if I pick on more shapes, and
- 00:29 then it says my shapes, and those others says favorites.
- 00:34 Well, let's see how we're going to add things to our favorites, and
- 00:37 then how to use this.
- 00:38 So, let's just say we use this rectangle a lot.
- 00:43 It could be anything.
- 00:44 So I'm going to go ahead and right click on that shape.
- 00:47 And I'm going to say add to my shapes.
- 00:51 And I'm going to add to the favorites.
- 00:55 Now, let's see where that's going to appear.
- 00:57 So I pick on my shapes, and I pick up my shapes again.
- 01:01 I'm going to open up the favorite stencil.
- 01:05 So notice, the favorite stencil just opened up, and you see that process, and
- 01:10 now I can just pull it in.
- 01:11 Once that's in the favorites stencil, it will be available for any diagram.
- 01:16 So it's a great way to reuse your shapes.
- 01:19 So what I did that time, was I picked on a stencil.
- 01:24 And then I right clicked on a shape.
- 01:28 I said add to my shapes, and picked on favorites, good.
- 01:34 Now, if I go down to the favorites, then you'll see that shape is there.
- 01:40 And I just tried that into that diagram or really any diagram.
- 01:44 Now here's another way you can add things to your favorites.
- 01:47 So I do have the favorite stencil open, as you can see.
- 01:50 So let's say I like that keyboard.
- 01:53 I'm going to pick up the keyboard, and drag it into the favorites over here.
- 01:58 Now notice what it says, this stencil is open, read, only.
- 02:03 Would you like to edit the stencil?
- 02:05 So I'm going to say yes there.
- 02:07 And now that keyboard shape is part of the favorites.
- 02:11 Make sure that you save the favorites when you're done with it.
- 02:14 So notice how there is a disk there.
- 02:16 So if I pick in the safe.
- 02:19 Now, the favorites stencil will be available for any future diagram.
- 02:25 It's a great way to set up your favorites as you can see.
- 02:29 So I can pick on any shape from any stencil, and right click on it,
- 02:34 and then say add to my shapes, and then pick on the word favorites there.
- 02:39 So let's reopen that again.
- 02:41 I pick on my shapes, and then my shapes, and I'll pick on favorites.
- 02:45 Now that stencil is available here, and
- 02:48 then you can see the shapes that we've added then.
- 02:51 Another way you can do it is you could just pick up a shape and
- 02:55 drag it into the favorites, as we saw.
- 02:58 So that's how you can manage your favorites here in Microsoft Visio.
