This provides you with information on how to get to your checking/savings/credit card/loan register as well as how to sort the register.
When to use
Oftentimes you’ll want to review the information that is already in QuickBooks and specifically in a checking or credit card register. Reviewing the register is one of the easiest ways to find this information (as opposed to using the search and find feature).
Instructions
- Locating the bank register method 1:
- Click on bank feeds
- Then click on go to register on the right side of the screen
- Locating the bank register method 2:
- Click on accounting in the grey bar on the left side
- Then click on view register on the right side of the screen
- Modifying the bank register view:
- Click on the word date to sort by date
- Viewing the bank register:
- Each entry has two lines, the top line is the payee and payment amount (if applicable) and the bottom line is the related account and the deposit amount (if applicable).
- The register view can be changed to display in one line
- Changing the register
- To change the register you’re looking at, you can change the dropdown on the top of your screen rather than going back to the beginning
Hints & tips
- There are a lot of ways to get to the register, don’t worry if you forget one of these or prefer one over another
- There are a lot of ways to view the register, don’t worry about if you prefer the oldest dates on top and the display to be in two lines even though you’ll see me do the opposite. The key is to set it up in a way that makes sense to you because you’re the one managing and reviewing your money.
