- 00:04 Hello everyone, and welcome back to this GoSkills course all about Todoist.
- 00:09 Now what we're going to be doing in this feature,
- 00:11 is diving into why you would use Todoist and
- 00:13 talking a little bit about the situations and scenarios in where Todoist applies.
- 00:19 Todoist is a very simple task management service.
- 00:22 It has been roughly around for 10 years now and
- 00:26 that's a long time for a task management service.
- 00:29 It has over 10 million users.
- 00:31 It's a very popular application,
- 00:33 which is all very healthy news if you're a brand new user because obviously
- 00:38 you want to see positive growth in an application you're investing your time in.
- 00:42 Now, primarily, Todoist's goal is to help to organize your to-do's, and
- 00:46 it's used for a lot of situations, for example, capturing tasks is a popular one.
- 00:51 Managing deadlines, organizing lists, planning habits and
- 00:55 routines as well as reviewing your week ahead.
- 00:58 And a lot of these are used in tandem to keep organized.
- 01:02 Now, you're probably wondering, who uses Todoist?
- 01:04 There were so many different use cases, well over 10 million at least
- 01:08 are using it around the world for lots of different situations.
- 01:11 So a lot of people use this for either work or
- 01:13 life situations or both a lot of the time.
- 01:16 For example, you could have a personal or casual use of this.
- 01:20 You could have freelancers using this to organize tasks for their clients,
- 01:24 employers assigning tasks to their team in front of them, and
- 01:28 employees actually prioritizing tasks and getting them out and organized.
- 01:33 You can also have Todoist being used for teams.
- 01:36 Small teams, large teams.
- 01:38 And, they use it to assign and organize activities between them.
- 01:41 Students and academics are another popular audience of Todoist.
- 01:45 Now, you're probably wondering, why do people use Todoist?
- 01:47 And it's primarily for the featureset, and
- 01:49 they have a good range of features that work together really well.
- 01:52 They work reliably too.
- 01:54 You got add new tasks, manage projects, assign tasks, create recurring tasks,
- 01:59 crafting lists, prioritizing tasks and tallying progress.
- 02:03 So you've got a range of activities that will work together well.
- 02:06 And it's available on a lot of platforms, IOS, Android, Mac, PC and
- 02:10 Web are all available, as you can download Todoist on all of those platforms,
- 02:15 which makes it really, really easy to access.
- 02:18 Now if you were to use it in your team,
- 02:19 there is actually a team management experience called Todoist for
- 02:24 Business, which gives you access to a team inbox too.
- 02:27 But we'll talk about that later inside of this course.
- 02:31 Now you're probably wondering, your needs, how do you apply that to your situation?
- 02:35 A personal layout inside of Todoist would provide you with all the tasks you need.
- 02:39 For example, just adding tasks, adding lists and
- 02:42 coordinating your own checklists, sub tasks, etc.
- 02:46 And a good example of this could be a stay at home mom managing her week ahead,
- 02:49 coordinating all the activities she's got on.
- 02:52 You've got a work situation too where you've obviously got all of the advanced
- 02:56 functions, and it could become really customizable for
- 02:59 your goals and your projects.
- 03:00 An employer could use this with a small team to delegate tasks.
- 03:04 So it's a really widespread situation.
- 03:07 And actually, if you wanted to, you could use both of these.
- 03:10 I use both of these and find Todoist a great platform for that.
- 03:13 Now in terms of the exercise, I have put together an exercise, Why Use Todoist.
- 03:18 I wanted you to cover your needs and solutions and
- 03:21 what Todoist features actually match to those needs, so
- 03:24 that you have a good outline of what features you'll be using straightaway.
- 03:28 I hope that you can join us in the next section for
- 03:31 creating your first task inside of Todoist.
- 03:34 Thank you very much, guys, and we'll see you in the next feature, cheers.
