Quick reference
Use Sticky Notes
Use the Sticky Notes app to create notes, ink, and add text and images.
When to use
We use Sticky Notes whenever we want to create virtual notes to store snippets of important information and stick them to the desktop.
Instructions
Sticky Notes are a simple way to quickly save information for later. Like virtual Post-It Notes, we can create notes, type, ink, or add a picture and text formatting. Sticky Notes can be stuck to the desktop and we can move them around freely, edit them, close them, add them to the notes list and sync them across devices and apps like OneNote.
Open Sticky Notes
- Click the Start button or press the Win key.
- Scroll to 'S' or type Sticky Notes into the search bar.
Create a Note
A new sticky note will open. We can type in any important notes or snippets of information. Sticky Notes in Windows 11 can be formatted using the menu underneath the note.
- Type a note.
If the Sticky Notes app is already open, we can click the + symbol to create a new note.
Format a Note
- Highlight the note text.
- Use the icons underneath the note to apply formatting.
We can make the text bold or italic, we can apply an underline and a strikethrough. We can even create bulleted lists within the note and add an image.
Notes List
When we close a Sticky Note it gets saved to the Notes List. The Notes list shows all notes we've created. We can view the note, delete the note or go back in and edit the note.
Edit the Note
- Click the three dots in the corner of the note.
- Click Open note.
- Make the required changes.
- Click the X to close the note.
Delete the Note
- Click the three dots in the corner of the note.
- Click Delete note.
Change the Note Color
- Click the three dots in the corner of the note.
- Choose a Note color from the palette.
Hints & tips
