Work with Copilot and Loop Components
Work with Copilot inside Microsoft Loop to generate content quickly.
When to use
We use Copilot inside Microsoft Loop whenever we want a quick way to gather information, generate ideas, and create reusable content.
Instructions
Microsoft Loop is a browser-based application that is accessible to everyone. However, to use it with Copilot, make sure you are logged into the account with a Copilot license.
Create Page Content
- On any page, type / to insert content.
- Click Draft page content.
- Type the prompt: 'I am hosting a series of lunch and learn sessions this week for all new joiners to the company. The idea is to teach new staff Excel skills so they can hit the ground running. I will be running three sessions: Excel for Beginners, Excel Intermediate and Excel Advanced. Can you write me some text that I can create a flyer from?'.
- Press Enter.
Rewrite with Copilot
Let's get Copilot to rewrite the text on the page.
- Type the prompt: 'Can you add some jokes to make it more fun'.
Copilot will add some jokes into the text. We can review each rewrite by clicking through them in the Copilot box. To go back to a previous version, click the Undo button.
Create a Table
Copilot can create and manipulate tables.
- Click somewhere on the page.
- Type / to insert content.
- Click Draft page content.
- Type the prompt: 'Can you create a table with columns for the delegate name and if they attended?'.
- Press Enter.
Copilot will create a table and add it to the page.
- Type the prompt: 'Can you add a column to the table to show the session time?'
- Press Enter.
Summarize Content
Let's summarize the feedback from the sessions.
- Type / to insert content.
- Click Summarize page.
Copilot will produce a concise, bullet-pointed summary of the main ideas.
Loop Components
The power of Microsoft Loop comes from the ability to turn any piece of content into a loop component and reuse that content in other applications. The content will stay in sync across applications as updates are made.
- Click on the dots to the left of the table we created.
- From the menu, choose Create loop component.
The content will be copied. We can now paste it into another application such as an Outlook email, another Loop page, or a Teams channel.
- Go to a Teams channel or create a new email.
- Press CTRL+V to paste the loop component.
The table in both applications will change when anyone makes updates, ensuring content is always kept in sync.
Login to download- 00:04 Did you know that we could use Microsoft Copilot within Loop?
- 00:08 Now, if you're thinking to yourself, well, I've never used Loop,
- 00:12 I don't even know what it is,
- 00:13 Loop is a browser-based application that is accessible to everybody.
- 00:17 So anybody can use Loop, however, if you want to use Loop with Copilot,
- 00:22 then it needs to be attached to your Copilot license.
- 00:26 And what Loop allows us to do is to create pages,
- 00:29 we can add different things to pages, like tables, bullets, and other content.
- 00:34 But the real power of Loop comes from the fact that we can create what we
- 00:39 call Loop Components.
- 00:40 And these components can be shared across different Microsoft 365 applications and
- 00:46 updated by everyone, so all of our work is always in sync.
- 00:50 So let's take a look at some of the features of Copilot within Loop.
- 00:53 Now you can see here, I have some pages over on the left-hand side, and these
- 00:58 are pages that were automatically created for me when I logged into my Loop browser.
- 01:03 So these are just there to give you an idea of the kinds of
- 01:07 things that you can add.
- 01:08 Now I have added a couple of pages to the top, so this Lunch and
- 01:12 Learn page is a page that I created simply by clicking on the plus.
- 01:17 Now if I type forward slash just here,
- 01:20 notice we get a menu where we can insert different things into our page.
- 01:25 But our Copilot options are right at the top here,
- 01:28 Draft page content and Summarize page.
- 01:31 Now I don't have a great deal on my page, so
- 01:34 let's do Draft page content first, and this will open up the Copilot box.
- 01:40 So now I can choose one of the suggested prompts underneath to help me out,
- 01:45 but I know the prompt that I want to use.
- 01:47 Because I want to create a flyer to advertise Lunch and
- 01:51 Learn sessions that I'm doing this week for new joiners.
- 01:55 And these Lunch and Learn sessions are going to be related to Excel training.
- 01:59 We're going to be teaching three sessions, Excel for
- 02:02 Beginners, Excel Intermediate, and Excel Advanced.
- 02:05 And I just want some text that I can put on a flyer and
- 02:08 put on all of the staff noticeboards.
- 02:10 So I'm going to type in my prompt, And we're going to send that through.
- 02:17 So Copilot is going away, it's having a think,
- 02:19 it's pulling things together, and it's creating a draft for me.
- 02:23 So this is similar to how we've seen Copilot behave in all of the other
- 02:28 Microsoft 365 applications.
- 02:30 And check it out, it's created some text for me.
- 02:34 Now, reading through this, it sounds quite formal.
- 02:37 So notice that we have a rewrite with Copilot box just to the right there.
- 02:43 So I'm going to get Copilot to rewrite this page, and I'm just going to say,
- 02:48 can you add some jokes just to make it a little bit more fun?
- 02:52 So let's send that through and see what it does.
- 02:55 So there we go, it's finished its rewrite, and I can see that yes,
- 02:59 we do have a very bad joke in there, this session will be a real cellebration.
- 03:04 Now thinking about it, I actually want this to be a little bit more formal,
- 03:08 I think that's too much of a dad joke to include.
- 03:11 Now notice we do have both versions in that little window, so
- 03:15 we can go back to a previous version if we want to.
- 03:18 So I'm going to click on Undo to close out of there,
- 03:21 and I've now got that first version loaded back in the page.
- 03:25 So this is looking pretty good, but what else can we do with Copilot?
- 03:29 Well, let's come to just underneath that text and do a forward slash again
- 03:33 to pull up that menu, and we're going to say, Draft page content again.
- 03:37 Now, this time, I'm going to ask Copilot to create a table with columns for
- 03:43 the delegate name and if they attended the session.
- 03:47 So this will be used at the end of the session just to log who attended
- 03:52 the sessions and who didn't.
- 03:54 So let's send this through and see if Copilot can create a table.
- 03:58 And check it out, it's created that table for me.
- 04:02 Now, what about if I want to add another column?
- 04:03 Let's see if we can get Copilot to do that.
- 04:06 So I'm going to say, can you add a column to the table to show the session time?
- 04:12 And there we go, it's managed to modify that table, no problem.
- 04:15 Now we're going to come back to that in a moment, but let's just jump across to
- 04:19 another page that I've prepared called Session Feedback.
- 04:21 In here,
- 04:22 we have all of the feedback gathered into paragraphs from each of these sessions.
- 04:27 And I can see I've got a bit of a spelling error there, so let's quickly change that.
- 04:31 Now, maybe I just want to create a quick summary of all of this
- 04:34 feedback that's a bit more concise.
- 04:36 Well, what we can do is we can click somewhere, forward slash, and
- 04:40 then we can choose Summarize page.
- 04:42 And that's going to go away, it's going to read all of that information, and
- 04:46 it's going to give me a shorter version, a shorter summary,
- 04:49 that I can very easily copy and paste into an email or maybe into a Teams channel.
- 04:54 Now, as I mentioned,
- 04:55 the power of Loop is the ability to be able to create Loop components.
- 04:59 So let me show you how you would do that.
- 05:01 We're going to create a Loop component out of this table.
- 05:04 So if we click the little tag at the side, we can say, Create Loop component.
- 05:10 Now it doesn't look like it's done anything, but if we go to another
- 05:14 application, and I'm going to jump across to Microsoft Teams, and I'm going to
- 05:19 go into a channel and I'm going to press Ctrl+V to paste that Loop component in.
- 05:24 And you can see, there it is.
- 05:25 Now why is this useful?
- 05:28 Well, if we do a bit of a split screen here, so we have Loop on the right and
- 05:33 Teams on the left, notice that if we update one, the other one also updates.
- 05:38 So everything is synchronized, and it means we can have lots and
- 05:42 lots of people editing things, and everybody is kept up to date and in sync.
- 05:47 So those are some of the cool features of using Copilot in Microsoft Loop.
