Quick reference
Connect Slicers to Multiple Charts
Connect slicers to multiple charts.
When to use
We connect slicers to multiple charts when we want more than one chart to update when a selection is made in the slicer. If we do not ensure our slicers are connected correctly, some charts may not update.
Instructions
Report Connections
We can choose which charts our slicers control. This is particularly important if we have a dashboard that contains multiple charts. A slicer can control one or more charts and we specify that using Report Connections.
It is always recommended that you check which slicers and connected to which charts and adjust accordingly.
- Click on a slicer.
- Right-click and choose Report Connections from the menu.
The Report Connections dialog box will show you which charts the slicer is connected to. If we want our slicer to control all charts in the dashboard, we need to select all check boxes in the list.
- Click OK.
Hints & tips
- We do not have to have a slicer controlling all charts. In some cases, we may want a slicer to control specific charts only.
