View Survey and Quiz Responses
Learn how to view and interpret survey and quiz responses.
When to use
We view survey responses whenever we want to analyze the form data.
Instructions
View Form Responses
- Open the 'Customer Satisfaction Survey'.
- Click the Responses tab.
From here we can see an overview of the responses and view key statistics and charts. This is useful as it makes it easier for us to quickly analyze the responses we have received.
Take some time to look through each response.
- Click View results.
We can view responses by responder. This helps us see individual statistics and how certain people responded to the form.
- Use the arrows to cycle between responders.
- Click More details to see a deeper analysis.
View Quiz Results
We can view quiz results in the same way as form results. With quiz results, we can see who responded, the questions they got correct or incorrect, and how many points they have achieved.
Hints & tips
- It's worth noting that response data can be opened in Excel for further analysis.
- 00:04 Once responders have completed the survey or the quiz,
- 00:08 then we can view what those responses are.
- 00:10 So, let's take a look first of all at what responses look like for a survey.
- 00:15 So, we're working in the Customer Satisfaction Survey one more time,
- 00:20 and I've sent this out to a few people.
- 00:22 Now, in reality, I've actually sent this to myself a few times and
- 00:26 I've responded to the survey.
- 00:27 Now, in a real-world scenario,
- 00:29 you'd probably send this survey to your colleagues or
- 00:32 maybe your wider organization and then collect the responses.
- 00:35 In this situation, I've actually just sent it to myself and
- 00:39 I've responded a few times to this survey.
- 00:41 So it's my responses that are logged, but
- 00:44 the process of checking the responses is exactly the same.
- 00:47 So when we open up the survey, notice that in the top left-hand corner,
- 00:51 we have a Responses tab.
- 00:52 And you can see that I have a number 3 next to mine letting me know that I
- 00:57 have 3 responses to the survey.
- 00:59 So if we click on this tab, this is where we get an overview, and
- 01:04 we can see some key statistics.
- 01:06 So I can see that I've got 3 overall responses, and
- 01:08 I can see the average time to complete this form.
- 01:11 It's also showing me that the status of this form is currently active so
- 01:15 the form isn't closed.
- 01:16 Now underneath we have a View Results button.
- 01:19 And this is going to show me the different respondents.
- 01:22 So Respondent 1, that's obviously me, and the time it took me to complete the form.
- 01:27 If we move across Respondent, you see that is also me.
- 01:31 As I said, in a real-world scenario, this would be somebody completely different.
- 01:33 And then Respondent 3, again, that's me and
- 01:36 the time that it took me to complete the form.
- 01:39 Now let's go back and let's move down.
- 01:42 Now notice that we also have an Open in Excel button on the right-hand side.
- 01:46 Now we're not going to click on this right now because we have a whole lesson
- 01:49 dedicated to that a bit later on.
- 01:51 Let's move down this form.
- 01:52 Here is the first question.
- 01:54 How did you find out about Happy Flame?
- 01:57 So I can see exactly which selections have been made for this particular question.
- 02:01 And if I hover over each of those,
- 02:03 you can see it broken down as a percentage in the pie chart.
- 02:07 Now you'll notice underneath each question, we will have a more details
- 02:10 button which just allows us to analyze those statistics a little bit more.
- 02:14 So once again we have the different responders,
- 02:17 they're all going to be given ID, we have their name.
- 02:19 Once again, that's just me, it will be different for you, and
- 02:23 then the responses that they selected for this particular question.
- 02:26 So we can really get quite granular about how we're analyzing our survey responses.
- 02:31 Let's scroll down.
- 02:32 Question 2, if you selected Other in the previous question,
- 02:36 how did you hear about Happy Flame?
- 02:37 So I can see that one responder did in fact select Other, and
- 02:41 then I can see what they filled out in that other text box.
- 02:45 So I saw an ad in Candle Weekly.
- 02:48 Once again, if we click More Details,
- 02:50 we're going to get a bit more detail about that response.
- 02:53 Let's scroll down out of 5, how would you rate the product offered by Happy Flame?
- 02:57 I can see the average rating and
- 03:00 then we get the results depicted in a column chart.
- 03:04 Once again if we click on more details, we get to see who the responders were, and
- 03:08 which option, they picked.
- 03:10 So hopefully you're getting the idea.
- 03:13 I won't run through all of these, but
- 03:15 this does offer a really nice way to really deep dive into your responses.
- 03:19 Now, let's open up the quiz that we created and
- 03:21 check out those responses because they do look a little bit different.
- 03:25 So we're going to go back to the Forms homepage.
- 03:27 And this time, we're going to go to the Accounts Team Microsoft Excel Quiz.
- 03:32 Now, this is a very short quiz.
- 03:34 We only added two questions, but notice that I have 6 responses.
- 03:38 Again, all of these responses are going to be me.
- 03:40 Once again, we can see the average score, we can see the status, we can open our
- 03:45 results in Excel, and then we can see that most people got this first question wrong.
- 03:50 So the correct answer is SUM, but that's the green part of the pie chart.
- 03:55 Most people selected COUNT.
- 03:57 Now notice just above, we have Review answers.
- 04:01 So if we click on this, again, at the top, we can see an overview of
- 04:05 the people who responded, and we can then see their answers below.
- 04:10 So for Respondent 3, again, that's just me,
- 04:13 I can see that I got the first question correct and the second question incorrect.
- 04:17 If we move on to respondent number 4, they got the first question incorrect and
- 04:22 the second question correct.
- 04:23 And if we want to analyze this information by the question as opposed to
- 04:28 the responder that we have at the top, We have a questions tab just here.
- 04:32 And that way we can cycle through the different questions and
- 04:37 see those stats instead.
- 04:39 So notice that we have for the incorrect answer, we have a one response link if we
- 04:43 click this we can see exactly who it was that responded and
- 04:47 if they got the answer correct or incorrect.
- 04:49 So there's a reasonable amount of analysis that we can do when we're looking at
- 04:54 responses for quiz and survey results.
