Hints & tips
- You can use the pull-down next to Bullets or the Numbering icon to get different formatting choices for your bullet or number list.
- 00:04 Let's talk about creating a list here in OneNote.
- 00:07 So, in an earlier video, I made this to do list.
- 00:11 So, let's make another bullet list or a number list.
- 00:14 So, I can just click anywhere on the page and make another container,
- 00:18 of course, right?
- 00:19 So, this time, I'll type in States, and
- 00:22 these are some of the states in the United States.
- 00:26 So then, I'm going to start the bullet list over here, okay?
- 00:31 So, we have, I live in a state called New Jersey.
- 00:36 Pretty close to me is New York State.
- 00:39 Pennsylvania is pretty close.
- 00:44 So, you can see each time that I press the Enter key,
- 00:48 I'm making a new a new state or a new line.
- 00:51 And that's going to be another item on the bullet list.
- 00:54 Pretty close to me is a state called Delaware.
- 00:58 And then below that is Maryland and Virginia, and so on.
- 01:04 Now, what if I wanted to start to go into the next list in?
- 01:09 So, I'm going to click on the end of New Jersey.
- 01:13 And then I press the Enter key.
- 01:15 Now, I want this one to be indented.
- 01:17 So, follow my mouse up here, and
- 01:20 I'll click on this icon that says increase the indent.
- 01:24 And then, notice how it's on the next level in.
- 01:27 So, in New Jersey, there's some different cities.
- 01:30 We have Trenton, which is actually the capital.
- 01:33 And then we have Edison, New Jersey, and
- 01:38 we have Newark, and Cherry Hill.
- 01:42 So, notice how these are making a sublist, right?
- 01:46 Now, if I wanted to go back to the previous level,
- 01:49 then, I'll use this icon and now you can see I'm back on the previous level.
- 01:54 And then another state that's close by might be Ohio, for example, all right?
- 01:59 You can see, I can use these icons to increase the indent, or
- 02:03 decrease the indent.
- 02:04 And the list can have as many levels as you need, all right?
- 02:09 So, now, let's talk about formatting those bullets.
- 02:13 I'm going to highlight these four cities there.
- 02:17 And then you can click on the pulldown for the bullet,
- 02:21 and then pick different bullets.
- 02:23 And you have a lot of good choices here.
- 02:25 So, you can see I can make it a bigger bullet.
- 02:28 Just a lot of good ones are built right in.
- 02:30 So, let's say I what those to be the star.
- 02:34 And now you can see the bullet changed.
- 02:36 So, that is a bullet list here in OneNote.
- 02:40 Of course, I can move this entire container.
- 02:43 Now, on the other hand, let's make a number list.
- 02:47 So, I'll just click over here, and I'll type in Countries.
- 02:51 And you can see it's in a different container.
- 02:53 And now, on the next line, I'll just pick on the one, two,
- 02:57 three over there, and then start to type in the countries.
- 03:00 Now, we're in a number list.
- 03:02 So, I'll do a USA, Canada,
- 03:08 Mexico, Australia.
- 03:14 And then we could have France, Italy, and so on.
- 03:19 Now, just like with the bullet list, we can indent these,
- 03:24 as well, and make a sublist.
- 03:26 So, I'll go to the USA at the end.
- 03:28 Press the Enter key.
- 03:30 Now, watch, I'll just click on this icon to indent the bullet list or
- 03:33 to indent the number list, like we did with the bullet list.
- 03:37 So, here I'll type in,
- 03:40 I'll just abbreviate, NJ, NY,
- 03:46 PA, DE, MD, VA, and OK, okay?
- 03:51 So, now I'm on the second level of this number list, and I can go to
- 03:56 the previous level with this icon or even make another level in with this icon.
- 04:01 Now, let's see if we can change the numbers.
- 04:04 So, I'm going to highlight those letters, highlight those states.
- 04:08 And then I'll pick on the pull down next to the number list.
- 04:12 And then you have different ones there, as well.
- 04:14 So, let's say I want it to be the capital letters, and
- 04:18 now we're able to change this.
- 04:21 So, I was able to quickly make a numbered list and a bullet list here in OneNote.
