- Pick the file or website you want, and click OK
- The link should now be in your note
Hints & tips
- You can also use the keyboard shortcut Control-K to add a link to a selected image or text
- 00:05 In this lesson, I want to show you how to make hyperlinks, either the files or
- 00:09 through websites.
- 00:10 So we're back in the Quick Notes and let's make another page.
- 00:16 So I'll click on Add a Page and I'll just call this one Links.
- 00:20 So a link can be attached to anything.
- 00:24 It could be attached to text or a pictures or really anything that you can click on.
- 00:29 So let's say I'm going to say,
- 00:34 Click here to go to a Word Document.
- 00:44 So I'm going to go ahead.
- 00:45 I'll say Click here to go to a Word Document.
- 00:49 I'm going to highlight that text and then we'll pick on the Insert menu and
- 00:55 then we see the word Link there, all right?
- 00:58 So let's pick on Link.
- 00:59 Good.
- 01:01 So now at this point, they can link to a website address or it could be a file.
- 01:09 So I'm going to say Browse for a File.
- 01:10 And now when you do this, you'll pick any file that might be on your computer.
- 01:15 So I'm going to go ahead and I'll find let's say a Word document.
- 01:22 And I'll click on OK.
- 01:26 All right, and now the text is what we had before and then the address turns out to
- 01:30 be a file because I picked them Browse for File over here.
- 01:33 You can also link to another OneNote notebook.
- 01:38 I'm going to click OK.
- 01:39 So notice how you can tell it's going to be an active link now.
- 01:44 If I move my mouse towards that, then my mouse becomes the pointer and
- 01:49 I'm going to click on that, and then it'll open up that Word document.
- 01:54 So I'll click on Yes and now that opened up that Word document, okay?
- 01:58 So I'm going to close that window for Word, and we're right back into OneNote.
- 02:05 So in that case, I highlight the text and then I pick in the Word
- 02:10 link on the Insert menu and I link to a browse for a file.
- 02:14 So you can try to browse to any file that might be on your computer when you try to
- 02:18 practice this.
- 02:19 In this case, I'll pick on Cancel.
- 02:21 Now in the other hand, let's try to link to a website.
- 02:26 So I'll come over here and
- 02:29 I'll say Click here to go to the website.
- 02:34 Again, I'm going to highlight that text, and
- 02:37 then I'll pick on the Link icon on the Insert menu right there.
- 02:42 And it could be a website address, or you can click over here to browse on the web.
- 02:51 So now I'm going to go out to the company page.
- 02:53 I'm going to go out to GoSkills.com.
- 03:00 And I want to make sure that I'm on the right page there.
- 03:05 Good.
- 03:05 So now once I get the address, I'm just going to click on that address and
- 03:11 highlight it and I'll click on Copy.
- 03:15 I'm going to close that Internet window that opened and
- 03:18 then I'll just paste that right into here.
- 03:22 Good.
- 03:23 So it says click here to go to a website and then I have the actual website name.
- 03:29 I'm going to click it.
- 03:30 You can either type that in, or it might be better just to copy and paste that from
- 03:34 the Internet like we just said because you have to get that exactly right.
- 03:37 I'll click on OK.
- 03:39 So now if I move my mouse towards that,
- 03:42 you can see how it's going to become an active link.
- 03:46 If I click on that, that should open up that webpage.
- 03:51 Perfect, all right?
- 03:53 So I'm going to close that window and now we're back into OneNote.
- 03:58 Now by the way, you can add a link to a picture or anything else.
- 04:02 So in this case,
- 04:03 let's try a couple of things that we've talked about during the class.
- 04:08 So I'm going to go back to the Internet for a second.
- 04:13 And I'll go back to the GoSkills website as you can see.
- 04:16 Now I want to do one of those screen captures that we talked about
- 04:20 in a previous lesson.
- 04:21 So I'll go back to OneNote and in this case,
- 04:25 I'll pick on Insert and then Screen Clipping.
- 04:28 It goes back to that most recent window.
- 04:30 And I'm going to highlight the GoSkills logo, and
- 04:35 that will put that into my wonder.
- 04:38 So watch how I can make that into a link as well.
- 04:43 I'm going to click on that picture, and then I'll just pick on Link there as well.
- 04:47 And then in this case, I can either have a go to an address or a different OneNote.
- 04:54 So I'll just paste in that address again.
- 04:56 Good.
- 04:57 Now I'll click OK.
- 04:59 So now, if I move the mouse towards the icon, that's how it'll become,
- 05:04 well, it says, Do a Ctrl Click to activate the link for this one.
- 05:10 So I'll move my mouse towards that and I'll do Ctrl click, and
- 05:14 then it goes up to that website.
- 05:16 So my point is, you can add the link either to a text or to a pictures or
- 05:20 really anything that you can click on from the OneNote page.
- 05:25 And now you'll see how to add links, either the files or
- 05:30 to webpages onto your OneNote.
