Add Pictures and Replace Shapes

Quick reference

• 00:04 Let's see how we can add pictures into our diagram.
• 00:07 And also I can show you how to replace some shapes.
• 00:10 So, in this case, if I click on the Insert menu up top,
• 00:15 then notice how I can add pictures.
• 00:18 Now this one means that picture is already on your computer.
• 00:21 Or you can pick an online pictures and search on the internet.
• 00:24 So I'm picking the word pictures here.
• 00:27 And then you would point to your picture folder and I'm going to scroll down.
• 00:31 And let's say I want to use a keyboard here and I'll pick on open, okay?
• 00:38 Now, this particular picture, I'm going to move it over here.
• 00:41 And it works like a lot of the other programs as far as managing your pictures.
• 00:46 For example, this particular keyboard has this white space up top there, so
• 00:51 I would like to crop that picture.
• 00:53 So I'm going to click on the picture, and
• 00:55 I'll pick on the Format menu up top, see Format.
• 00:59 And then, I'm going to pick on the crop tool.
• 01:03 And then, I'm going to get these black lines.
• 01:05 I'm going to move the mouse to the black line, and just drag it down.
• 01:09 So I'm not resizing the keyboard,
• 01:11 I'm actually taking part of the picture off, and that's what crop means.
• 01:15 Then I'll just click over here, and
• 01:16 you can see the keyboard looks a little bit better.
• 01:19 So, if I pick on that picture, then you get the Format menu.
• 01:23 You can see there's different things you can do within the Format menu.
• 01:27 So we did insert and then picture.
• 01:30 This is getting pictures from your computer.
• 01:32 If you pick on an insert and
• 01:33 then online pictures, then you can search on the internet.
• 01:38 So you can use one of these categories or you can just search up here and find many,
• 01:42 many pictures on the internet.
• 01:44 So the reason I'm doing that is we used that keyboard shape earlier.
• 01:50 Well, maybe the shapes are okay, but
• 01:53 if I have an actual photograph, maybe it's looking a little bit better.
• 01:57 Now what I'll do is I want to replace that keyboard.
• 02:01 So I'm going to click on that keyboard and watch how you can change any shape.
• 02:06 You pick on the shape.
• 02:07 I'm going to pick on the Home Menu.
• 02:10 Now look what it says over here, we can change the shape.
• 02:13 You can change the shape to any shape that's already in the diagram within
• 02:17 the stencils.
• 02:18 So notice I can click over here, and then pick a different stencil.
• 02:22 But really the keyboard it's going to be a data type of shape.
• 02:25 So this is the traditional data shape in my flowchart so
• 02:29 I'm actually going to pick on this one.
• 02:31 So did you notice what I did?
• 02:33 I clicked on the picture, and then I clicked on change shape, and
• 02:36 it'll show you the different shapes that are available through the stencils
• 02:39 of that diagram.
• 02:41 So what I'll do now is I'll move that shape over, and
• 02:45 then I'll move the keyboard, the actual keyboard over here.
• 02:50 So that it's with that shape.
• 02:51 I'm going to resize that.
• 02:53 I'm going to click there and I'll type in keyboard input.
• 03:00 So I'm just going to move that and
• 03:02 notice how the lines come up to help me position it.
• 03:05 Looks like that would be where it would be centered.
• 03:08 So I showed you how to import pictures,
• 03:13 I guess insert picture is the picture from your computer,
• 03:16 or we have online pictures that's going to be pictures from the internet.
• 03:19 And then I showed you how to pick a shape.
• 03:21 And then you can pick on the Home menu, and you can change the shape to any other
• 03:26 available shape that's available in the diagram through the different stencils.
