Instructions
When you click on a shape, you get the sizing handles and the rotate tool.
To access the Size & Position pane:
- Click on the View Tab, and then the Task Pane icon, and then size and position.
Then you can get very precise with the size and position of a shape.
- 00:04 Let's talk about sizing and rotating a shape.
- 00:07 When you click on a shape, a couple things happen.
- 00:11 Look down here in the status bar, it'll show you the width and the height and
- 00:16 the angle.
- 00:18 So if that doesn't happen for you, you can right click on your status bar.
- 00:22 And then make sure the word width, height and
- 00:24 angle or maybe even length is selected.
- 00:28 Otherwise, you can just check this to select this, and then click over here, and
- 00:33 it'll save the settings in your status bar.
- 00:35 So notice when I click on my shape, I get the width, the height and the angle.
- 00:40 Now notice, it comes with that circle.
- 00:43 When you move your mouse to your circle, you could then rotate that shape.
- 00:48 Okay, so that's one place we can rotate it.
- 00:51 Another place is up on the Home Menu.
- 00:54 If we pick on Home, then we're going to come over here, and if we pick on the word
- 00:58 Position, then here you can rotate the shapes and you could try some of those.
- 01:04 But notice when I picked on the shape, I can get the circle rotated that way, or
- 01:08 in my case, a I picked on the Home Menu and then picked on the word Position.
- 01:12 And then here it says rotate shapes and you can try those features and
- 01:16 see what they do for you.
- 01:17 So that certainly is the ways we can rotate it.
- 01:20 As far as resizing it, I recommend two things for you.
- 01:24 One, you can use the sizing handles.
- 01:28 So notice when you click on the shape, you get the sizing handles and you can just
- 01:32 move your mouse to one of those and then just drag it out or drag it in.
- 01:37 Notice what I'm doing that, that's changing the width and
- 01:40 the height down there as well on the status bar.
- 01:44 Now if you really want to get specific with these,
- 01:47 then I might recommend the size and position window.
- 01:51 So what I'm going to do is I'm going to pick on the View menu up top, and
- 01:55 then Test Panes, and then I'll pick on size and position.
- 01:58 So the X and Y is the position on the drawing.
- 02:04 All right, but notice here, I can go to the width and
- 02:07 get very specific with that, or the height or even the angle.
- 02:12 So notice if I click on a shape, all of these should be the same shape.
- 02:17 In fact, if you wanted to make sure something is the same shape as something
- 02:20 else, I'm going to click on this shape and
- 02:23 notice that the width says 1.0765 and the height says 1.25.
- 02:28 If I click on this one, then notice how it's the same width and height.
- 02:34 But if they were different,
- 02:35 then our change one shape to be the same as another.
- 02:39 For example, let's say that this chair is bigger than the other chairs.
- 02:44 I just stretched it out so that it's bigger, but
- 02:47 I wanted to make it the same size as this other shape.
- 02:50 So I'm going to click on this shape and notice that this is 1.0765 and
- 02:54 the height says 1.25.
- 02:56 So I'm going to go ahead and click on this one.
- 02:59 I might write those numbers down, but I think it'll be okay.
- 03:02 So then I'll make this one 1.0765.
- 03:09 All right, and then it actually kept the chair in proportion.
- 03:14 Let's see if that one is 1.25 and it is.
- 03:17 And then I might move it so that I'll see that they're lined up.
- 03:22 So when I click on a shape, I get the width, height,
- 03:26 and angle down here on the status bar.
- 03:29 I can rotate it with the Rotate tool.
- 03:31 Another way to rotate it is on the Home Menu and then I can pick on Position and
- 03:35 rotate it there.
- 03:38 Now if you wanted to get very specific with the size,
- 03:41 you can use the sizing handles.
- 03:44 Or what I did was I opened up the size and
- 03:46 position window by picking on the View menu, and then task panes.
- 03:51 Now if I click it this time, it's going to away.
- 03:53 If I want to reopen that again, I'll pick on view and then task panes and
- 03:57 then size and position, then I can get very specific with the size and
- 04:02 the position of that particular shape.
- 04:05 All right, if you select more than one shape at the same time,
- 04:09 then you can manage them all at the same time.
- 04:10 And that's how we can really resize and rotate the shapes.
