Quick reference
Instructions
To add a shape callout:
- Click on a shape. Click on the Insert menu, then click on the Callout icon. Choose one the callouts, then type in some text. The Callout will now attached to the shape.
- 00:03 I want to show you something called a callout that we can add to a shape.
- 00:08 Now notice how in a previous lesson, we added the text box keyboard,
- 00:13 and then we add the picture keyboard right there.
- 00:16 Well, I really want to make sure that people know that that's associated
- 00:20 with the keyboard import shape.
- 00:22 So I'm going to go ahead and click on that word keyboard there.
- 00:25 Actually it's the text box that goes along with the actual keyboard.
- 00:29 I'm just going to move that up for a second.
- 00:31 And if I want to edit that text, then I'm just going to click on the text tool.
- 00:37 And then maybe hit my Delete key to get rid of that text.
- 00:41 And we'll do it in a different way.
- 00:43 And then I'm just going to to pick on the pointer tool, and
- 00:45 now that shape doesn't have a text.
- 00:47 But I want to make sure that people know that the keyboard
- 00:50 is actually related to that shape.
- 00:52 So what we're going to do is we're going to add a callout.
- 00:55 I'm going to go ahead and click on that shape,
- 00:58 and then I'll pick on the Insert menu, we see Insert.
- 01:02 And then notice how there's one that's called a callout.
- 01:05 And then if you move your mouse around these, the preview mode will kick in,
- 01:10 as you can see.
- 01:11 All right, so that one's not bad.
- 01:14 Then you can see how it would even be different shapes that we can assign to
- 01:18 the text here.
- 01:19 That one doesn't really fit this particular model,
- 01:22 but I can see it's just for that one.
- 01:23 The one that I kind of like is this one.
- 01:26 So I'm going to go ahead and click on that.
- 01:29 And then I'm going to type into the actual text there, I type in the word keyboard.
- 01:38 And then I'm just going to click away from that, okay, good.
- 01:43 So now I'll move the actual keyboard shape near that callout.
- 01:48 And then you can see it looks like it's more associated with that
- 01:51 shape, all right?
- 01:53 So I can click on any shape, then I pick on the Insert menu, and
- 01:57 we pick in the word Callout.
- 01:59 And then you can just move your mouse around those and
- 02:02 see what they're going to do.
- 02:03 See what they really look like before you choose one.
- 02:06 Now even when I click on that, pick on one of those.
- 02:09 If I click on that callout itself,
- 02:12 then of course it's like any other shape at that point.
- 02:16 I can format it with the fill or with the line or with the effects or
- 02:20 with the quick styles.
- 02:22 And now we can see, how we do a callout and
- 02:25 what nice effect that has on your presentation.
