Instructions
To use the Format Painter:
- Click on a shape, then click on the Home Menu, then click on the Format Painter. You can then click on another shape, and it will copy the format from the first shape.
- If you double click on the Format Painter, you will be able to reuse it multiple times until you click on the Format Painter again, which will turn it off.
- 00:03 Let's talk about how we can quickly copy the style and
- 00:06 the format from one shape to another.
- 00:09 We can use something that's called the Format Painter.
- 00:11 So if you watch the last two lessons, I was able to give that
- 00:16 shape the black border and the red fill and the shadow effect.
- 00:21 Well I kind of like the way that looks, so
- 00:24 I like to copy that style to the other shapes.
- 00:27 Well, then we're going to use the Format Painter.
- 00:30 So I'm going to go ahead and click on this shape.
- 00:32 And then up on the Home Menu, we'll pick in the Format Painter.
- 00:36 And then I'm just going to click on another shape, and
- 00:39 then that shape has that same style and the same look and feel you see.
- 00:43 Now, a really great thing to do is, let's say I want to copy to the other shapes.
- 00:48 Well, I don't want to do this one by one,
- 00:51 so I'm going to click on the shape whose style I want to copy.
- 00:54 And then I'm going to double-click on the Format Painter this time.
- 00:57 Double-click, and that'll lock it in place, so
- 01:00 that I can click on this shape, this shape, this shape and this shape.
- 01:05 So when you double click on the Format Painter,
- 01:08 then you can just keep on reusing it, until you're done with that.
- 01:12 So now, I'm just going to click on the Word Format Painter,
- 01:15 then turn it back off again.
- 01:17 So if you click there one time, then you could just use it one time.
- 01:20 If you double click it, you can just keep on reusing it, until you click it again.
- 01:25 Now, another way to get to the Format Painter is to right click on a shape.
- 01:30 If you right click on it, then you get that mini toolbar right over here.
- 01:34 And then there's the Format Painter.
- 01:36 And it would work the same way.
- 01:38 If you click on it, you could use it one time.
- 01:40 If you double click on it, you could use it multiple times.
- 01:43 Notice how it also says there's a keyboard shortcut for
- 01:47 the Format Painter, Shift+Ctrl+P.
- 01:49 So you can see very, very quickly, I was able to copy the style from one
- 01:54 shape to the other using the Format Painter.
- 01:57 I just think it's a very, very great time saver.
- 01:59 So if I just click on the Format Painter once, I can use it one time.
- 02:04 If you double click on it, then you can keep on reusing it as many times as you
- 02:08 want to until you click it to turn it back off again.
- 02:11 So now we see the benefits of using the Format Painter.
