When to use
When you want to automatically get notified if a key metric is above or below a tolerance threshold
Instructions
All alerts are created and managed at PowerBI.com.
To create a new simple (and free) alert:
- Go to a dashboard --> mouse over a card visual --> select Manage Alerts
- Configure the rule conditions and frequency
- Click Save & Close
To modify (or remove) an existing alert:
- Go to the dashboard --> mouse over a card visual --> select Configure Alerts
- Delete the rule (if desired) by clicking the trash can
To configure more granular alerts (requires a pro license):
- Go to a report --> mouse over any visual --> click the Bell icon
- Configure the rule conditions
- Select the notification audience
- Click Save & Close
Hints & tips
- Simple Alerts can only be set up on visuals that return a single data point (like Cards)
- A pro license gives you access to configure rules on other visuals
