When to use
When building a 'Contact Us' page its always beneficial to add hyperlinks so that the reader can easily send an email to the correct address or visit our website.

- Select Colors and Customize Colors.
- Choose a different color from the palette for Hyperlink and Followed Hyperlink.
- Click OK.
Hints & tips
- When following a hyperlink to an email address, a new email will open in the default mail application.
- Check the copyright for any social media icons downloaded from an external website.
- 00:04 Hi, everyone, welcome to part two where this lesson continues.
- 00:08 Now the final couple of things I need to add into this slide are my social media
- 00:12 icons and also my contact information.
- 00:14 Now when it comes to the icons,
- 00:16 I downloaded these from a website called iconfinder.com.
- 00:20 And this is a website which has lots and
- 00:22 lots of different images that you can download and use in your presentations.
- 00:27 And these are all PNG images which I've just saved to my local drives.
- 00:31 So now I can simply jump up to Insert, go into pictures from this device,
- 00:36 and here are my icons.
- 00:38 So I'm going to select all of these and click on Insert.
- 00:45 And at the moment, they are pretty large.
- 00:47 So let me take these down to, I think 0.5 is going to be better here.
- 00:54 And then I can move those into place.
- 00:58 And of course,
- 00:59 you can use your usual alignment tools to make sure that these are exactly in line.
- 01:07 And I'm also going to distribute them horizontally.
- 01:10 So the final thing I've added here is just some text with my contact details.
- 01:15 And these are just plain old text boxes and I've also inserted some icons and
- 01:20 made sure that everything is lined up nicely.
- 01:23 Now the final two items here, we have the email address and
- 01:27 also the website address as well.
- 01:29 And I want to make these links.
- 01:32 Now currently,
- 01:32 you can see that these two items have a red squiggly line underneath them,
- 01:36 which is basically PowerPoint telling me that this is some kind of spelling error.
- 01:41 Now I know that it's not,
- 01:43 it just doesn't recognize these two words in the dictionary.
- 01:48 So if you come across this and you want to get rid of that red squiggly line,
- 01:52 just right-click on the word and say Ignore All.
- 01:55 Or alternatively, you can Add it to Dictionary if it's a word or
- 01:59 a phrase that you use often.
- 02:01 So I'm going to say Ignore All, and I'm going to Ignore All on this one as well.
- 02:06 So now let's add in a hyperlink.
- 02:09 Now, we've seen how to do this previously, but what we didn't take a look at was
- 02:13 how to hyperlink to things like email addresses and external websites.
- 02:18 So for this first one, I'm going to select the email address.
- 02:22 And if you remember, we added our Insert Link button to our Quick Access Toolbar.
- 02:28 So let's click on it and see what we get.
- 02:31 Now because this is an email address,
- 02:34 on the left-hand side in the Link To area I can choose E-mail Address.
- 02:39 My text to display is the actual email address, which is absolutely fine.
- 02:42 You could change that if you wanted to.
- 02:44 And then I need to type in the email address,
- 02:46 which is basically going to be a copy of what we have up here.
- 02:50 So I'm going to Ctrl+C and then Ctrl+V to add that in.
- 02:55 And you'll notice that PowerPoint will always add that little mail:to on
- 02:59 the beginning.
- 03:00 I can add a Screen Tip if I wanted to, just telling people what to do.
- 03:09 And I can even choose a default subject for the particular email.
- 03:14 So what's going to happen here when they click on this link is it's going to open
- 03:18 up a brand new email in whichever email application is set as their default.
- 03:23 It's going to use this address, and if you've included a subject,
- 03:26 it will add that in for you as well.
- 03:29 So let's just say Inquiry is going to be the subject, and click on OK.
- 03:34 And you can now see that that text has changed color letting me know that this is
- 03:39 a link.
- 03:39 Now I'm going to do something similar, but
- 03:41 this time we're going to link to an external website.
- 03:45 So let's insert our link.
- 03:48 And the first option under this link to group is Existing File or Web Page.
- 03:54 The text to display is correct at the top.
- 03:57 I could choose to link to a file that I already have on my PC, but
- 04:01 this time I'm going to link to a web address.
- 04:04 So again, I'm just going to copy and paste this into address,
- 04:09 and you'll see it's added the HTTP on to the front.
- 04:14 Once again, I could add a screen tip, I won't just to save a little bit of time.
- 04:18 Click on OK.
- 04:19 And there is my link.
- 04:21 So let's just test one of these to see if it works.
- 04:24 If I hover my mouse over the email address,
- 04:27 you can see it says Ctrl+Click to follow the link.
- 04:30 So if I hold down Ctrl, click on the link.
- 04:33 And there you go.
- 04:34 It's opened up my default email application, it's put in the address and
- 04:39 also the subject.
- 04:41 Now one thing to note here is that now that I've clicked on that link,
- 04:45 the link has changed color, so it's now a light gray.
- 04:48 So PowerPoint will indicate to you links that are active and
- 04:52 links that have been clicked already.
- 04:55 Now you can define these colors, they're defined within your theme settings.
- 05:00 So if I want to change the way that these are displaying or the way that they look
- 05:05 when they're clicked, if I jump up to the Design tab and
- 05:09 go to this little variants drop down, you'll find this option underneath Colors.
- 05:14 Customize Colors all the way at the bottom.
- 05:17 And this is where you can choose what color your hyperlinks and
- 05:21 also your followed hyperlinks are.
- 05:23 So you can see here my followed hyperlinks are gray and my hyperlinks show in blue.
- 05:29 So maybe I want my hyperlinks to display in a light pink color and
- 05:33 I want my followed hyperlinks to be white.
- 05:37 Click on OK, and there we go, those have now changed.
- 05:42 That's our Contact Us page complete.
- 05:44 I'll see you in the next video.
