Hints & tips
- Use Animation Effects to control which talking points appear on the screen. Stagger graphics or text so the audience can focus on each point without distraction.
- 00:04 Welcome back everyone.
- 00:05 This lesson continues in part 2.
- 00:07 Now for slide three, we already have animation applied to this slide.
- 00:10 So, let's just move on to the next one.
- 00:12 Now I will say, I'm not going to apply animation to all of the slides.
- 00:17 But hopefully, after a few examples, you'll get the idea.
- 00:21 Now for this one, I think I want this picture to wipe in from the side.
- 00:26 So I'm going to choose wipe and currently, it's wiping in from the bottom.
- 00:30 So remember, if you want to change the direction, choose effect options and
- 00:34 then select your direction.
- 00:38 And what I would probably do is then go through all of these divider slides,
- 00:42 applying exactly that same effect.
- 00:44 It's always a good idea to have some level of consistency.
- 00:48 Now for these slides just here, these ones which are all fairly similar,
- 00:53 I'm going to apply two animations to the picture.
- 00:58 So the first one I'm going to apply here is we're going to have an entrance effect
- 01:02 of random bars.
- 01:05 And then I'm going to add a second effect, remember,
- 01:08 you have to go to the add animation drop down, and this time,
- 01:12 I'm going to have an exit effect as well of random bars.
- 01:17 And I want this first effect to start when we go to the slides.
- 01:21 So start with previous but I'm happy to keep that exit effect as on click.
- 01:27 So, I'm going to go through and
- 01:29 add these same two pieces of animation to slides nine to 12.
- 01:33 Let's add some animation to slide number 14, our timeline.
- 01:37 So first I'm going to group together what I want to animate.
- 01:40 So I'm going to group together all of these shapes, Ctrl G.
- 01:44 And let's do the same for all of these others.
- 01:52 Go to animation
- 01:59 The next one I want to fly in but I want this to fly in from the top.
- 02:06 This one is going to fly in from the bottom.
- 02:10 This one fly in from the top, and finally,
- 02:14 this one is going to fly in from the bottom.
- 02:19 And for the rest of these slides, I don't think I want too much animation
- 02:23 on these charts, maybe just a fade in, shall we say?
- 02:27 And I want this to Start With Previous when we load up the slide.
- 02:32 I'm going to do the same for this one just here,
- 02:36 let's do a fade in, start with previous, and also for our map,
- 02:42 we'll do a fade in and I want that to start with previous as well.
- 02:48 And I think for the time being, I'm going to leave it at that.
- 02:51 Now a couple of other things to note about animation,
- 02:54 if you click the drop down in the gallery once more, right at the bottom,
- 02:58 you have the option to select More Entrance emphasis or Exit Effects.
- 03:03 So if we load up one of these,
- 03:04 you have a larger gallery than the one that you see on the ribbon.
- 03:09 Also, if you want to change the duration of any particular animation, so for
- 03:14 example, if something flies in and maybe it's a bit too slow for your liking or
- 03:18 maybe a bit too quick, you can adjust the duration in this timings group on the end.
- 03:24 There's a duration button just here and
- 03:26 you can just use those scroll buttons to customize the length of the animation.
- 03:30 So now that we've added it all,
- 03:32 let's take a look at the slideshow from the beginning.
- 03:35 Let's press F5.
- 03:40 So if we go to slide number two, there is a animation in action.
- 03:44 Slide number three,
- 03:45 we already had our animation applied to this particular slide.
- 03:50 Slide number four, we have that white pin.
- 04:02 We have our random bars effect on these slides.
- 04:06 And you can see that offers quite a nice little effect.
- 04:18 We have another white pin on our divider side.
- 04:21 And then we have our timeline slide.
- 04:23 So, when I click my mouse, the first one comes in from the bottom.
- 04:28 Next one from the top, so on and so forth.
- 04:33 Again, we have a white pin on the divider slide.
- 04:36 I didn't apply anything to these slides, but
- 04:39 I did apply a fade animation to these child slides.
- 04:45 And there we go.
- 04:48 So much to explore when it comes to animation,
- 04:50 but hopefully that's given you an idea of the types of things that you can do.
- 04:54 That is the end of the workshop section of this course.
- 04:58 We're going to regress on to the next section where we're going to start talking
- 05:01 about working with touch.
- 05:02 So I'm going to head across there now and I look forward to you joining me.
