- 00:04 Hello everyone, and welcome to the final segment on the Trello section
- 00:09 inside of the essential productivity training here on GoSkills.
- 00:13 In this final feature, we're going to dive into a few ways
- 00:17 that you can utilize Trello in lots of different scenarios.
- 00:20 We're going to be specifically talking a little bit about long-term planning,
- 00:25 career planning, week planning, and
- 00:28 all of the different ways that you can use Trello in all of these scenarios.
- 00:32 Because the great thing about Trello is it's super-duper flexible.
- 00:36 And as you can see by this board here, I have used it in a multitude of
- 00:41 ways that has been so useful and so beneficial for my activities.
- 00:46 So as I was saying,
- 00:47 long term planning is something that a lot of people use Trello for.
- 00:51 And as you can see, some of my freelance work has been based around goals and
- 00:55 projects.
- 00:56 It's really dependent on how you want to set things up, but it can be easily done.
- 01:01 The great way to start is by creating a brand new board,
- 01:05 giving it a name like 12 month goals.
- 01:10 Once you've created a board, you've created a space for
- 01:13 you to start putting those goals down.
- 01:15 And if you wanted a long-term plan, maybe 12 month, is long term planning for
- 01:19 you, you can start listing your month by month goals.
- 01:23 So for example, I could put here, January Months Goals.
- 01:28 And then from this structure I can start listing out all of the per month goals
- 01:33 that I want to include.
- 01:35 So for example, let's say in February I want to run a marathon.
- 01:38 So I've added a few additional goals.
- 01:40 And of course, we talked a little bit about the inside activities that you can
- 01:44 use inside of Trello cards, like using due dates and
- 01:47 checklists to help plan and organize its activities.
- 01:51 And of course in this scenario you can do absolutely that,
- 01:54 you can start adding all of those brilliant things.
- 01:57 I've added a few here.
- 01:58 So for example, plan full wedding, run marathon, launch new podcast, and
- 02:02 speak at one event.
- 02:04 Maybe I want to add more, and of course you can add as many as you like.
- 02:08 Now, when it comes to planning a specific project,
- 02:11 there are many different ways that you can use Trello to organize all of that.
- 02:15 So for example here I have Wedding 2018,
- 02:17 we talked about this in the last few features.
- 02:20 And this is a good way to plan a different project that you've got on.
- 02:23 You can visualize and see all of the items you have.
- 02:26 But let's say I want to jump over to the marathon run that I've got planned,
- 02:31 I can utilize a very similar tactic to this.
- 02:34 If it's a fair few months away I can use the month
- 02:37 layout versus the week layout that I did inside the wedding thing.
- 02:41 But it's really easy just to get started with,
- 02:43 and there's tons of templates that can be very useful for
- 02:46 getting started, something that we'll include in the description below.
- 02:50 Just going onto this simple to-do list, this is something that a lot of people
- 02:53 tend to miss out on when they're getting started with a resource like Trello.
- 02:59 A simple to-do list can be a great way to start actioning all of the items.
- 03:03 So as you can see here, this is a To-Do List, and
- 03:05 you can move the different items between the different stages of completion.
- 03:10 So maybe I'm buying the new Google Pixel, and I'm actually doing it now,
- 03:13 that means that I've just finished it, it is done.
- 03:16 You can move them across the various states, and
- 03:19 it can be a very helpful tactic.
- 03:21 And the great thing about this is there are so
- 03:23 many different ways that you can use Trello.
- 03:25 We talked about how I used it for a video calendar,
- 03:28 how you can use it to launch different projects, there's one on here.
- 03:31 For this GoSkills course that I've got, the actual doing, done process.
- 03:35 And it's very easy just to get started, creating your own zone, and
- 03:39 you can even use it with teams to plan your long-term goals.
- 03:42 So hopefully that gave you a bit more insight into how you can use long-term
- 03:46 planning functions.
- 03:47 I'll include a few templates in the description, so you can go away and
- 03:52 download a few of those.
- 03:53 We hope that you enjoyed Trello section, and
- 03:55 we're looking forward to diving into more topics with you.
