Congratulations everyone for making it to the end of this course. We've come a long way so lets do a final recap of the skills we have learnt.
Section 1: Introduction
We learnt why SharePoint is important and how it can be a useful replacement for less efficient file storage and information sharing applications. We also created a practice site using the team site template for use in this course.
Section 2: Getting Started with SharePoint Online
In this section we learnt how to access SharePoint via a direct link to a site and via the Microsoft 365 portal. We took a tour of the interface and learnt SharePoint terminology.
Section 3: Lists
We looked at the importance of lists in SharePoint and the types of list we can create using templates and from scratch. We learnt how to modify and create our own lists and import list data from Excel.
Section 4: Libraries
In this section looked at the templates available to create libraries in SharePoint. We created a document library and explored different methods for uploading documents. We also saw how to create Word, Excel and PowerPoint files from directly within a SharePoint document library using Microsoft 365 online applications.
Section 5: Integration with other applications
We saw how to connect SharePoint to Outlook, set up alert me notifications and export data out of SharePoint to other applications.
Section 6: Workflows
In this section we saw how to automate common business processes using Power Automate in SharePoint. We explored the benefits of creating workflows and created an approval workflow that could be triggered manually or automatically.
Section 7: SharePoint Web Pages
We moved on to looking at web pages in SharePoint. We saw how to create web pages, how to edit them and how to add dynamic content such as YouTube videos and Twitter feeds.
Section 8: Permissions
We learnt about SharePoint site permissions. We explored the three default permission groups, learnt how to add and remove users and how to create our own custom groups.
Section 9: Subsites
In this final section, we explored subsites and site collections. We saw how to create a subsite and also change the overall look and feel of the site by customizing the theme.

- 00:20 recap of all of the skills that we've learned over the last nine sections.
- 00:26 So if you remember all the way back to section 1,
- 00:29 we discussed why it's important to use SharePoint and
- 00:32 we created the practice site to use throughout this course.
- 00:36 In section 2, I showed you how to access SharePoint via a link and
- 00:40 through the Microsoft 365 portal.
- 00:42 And then we had a quick explore of the interface to familiarize ourselves with
- 00:47 the navigation menus, the main page, the quick launch menu, things like that.
- 00:52 In section 3, that's where the real work started.
- 00:56 We talked about the importance of using lists in SharePoint,
- 00:59 the fact that everything in SharePoint is essentially a list.
- 01:03 And then I showed you the different types of lists that you can create using
- 01:07 templates or even from scratch.
- 01:09 We saw how we can modify lists, create our own custom lists, and
- 01:13 even import data from Excel to create lists.
- 01:17 We then moved on to talking about document libraries.
- 01:21 I showed you where you can find all of the different libraries that you
- 01:24 can use in SharePoint.
- 01:26 We saw how to create a document library, different methods for uploading documents.
- 01:32 And also how we can create documents on the fly from directly within SharePoint
- 01:37 by harnessing the power of the Microsoft 365 online applications.
- 01:42 In Section 5,
- 01:43 we took a look at how SharePoint integrates with other applications.
- 01:48 So we saw some options for connecting SharePoint to Outlook.
- 01:52 I showed you how you can set up SharePoint notifications via alert mails so
- 01:56 that you receive alerts in your Outlook whenever a change is made.
- 02:01 And we also saw how we can export data out of SharePoint.
- 02:05 In section 6 we explore the wonderful world of workflows using Power Automate.
- 02:10 I explained to you what workflows are and
- 02:13 how they can be helpful when it comes to streamlining your business processes.
- 02:17 And then we created our own workflow to approve a document.
- 02:21 I showed you how you can manually trigger the workflow and
- 02:24 also how our workflow can be triggered automatically.
- 02:28 We then moved into section 7, where we started discussing the topic of webpages.
- 02:33 I showed you how you can create different web pages, how you can edit them and
- 02:37 add all different types of content.
- 02:40 Not only things like lists and libraries and links, but
- 02:43 also more dynamic content like YouTube videos, Twitter feeds, geographical
- 02:48 information to make our pages really interesting, engaging, and informative.
- 02:54 In section 8, we discussed SharePoint permissions,
- 02:57 which is a really important part of SharePoint.
- 03:00 I showed you the three different permission groups and how you can add and
- 03:03 remove users from those groups.
- 03:05 And I also showed you how you can create your own SharePoint permission groups.
- 03:10 And then in the final section, we discussed subsites.
- 03:14 I explained to you what a subsite actually is and how it can be useful to you.
- 03:19 I then showed you how to create a subsite from site contents and change
- 03:23 the overall look and feel of the entire site by choosing a different theme and
- 03:28 modifying the font, the colors, and the background image that you're using.
- 03:33 So all that's really left for me to do here is to say a big thank you for
