- 00:04 Hello everyone, and welcome to this GoSkills course all about Todoist.
- 00:09 It is Francesco again, and we are going into section two a little deeper.
- 00:15 Last time in the previous feature we talked about the Todoist task and
- 00:19 how you can get started with it.
- 00:21 We created these two demonstration tasks as we have here in front of us.
- 00:26 And what we will be doing in this feature is diving into due dates.
- 00:30 Now due dates are quite an important part of the Todoist experience.
- 00:35 And its something that once people create their accounts, when people get started,
- 00:39 its something that a lot of people get quite excited about.
- 00:42 Because it gives you the ability to plan your week ahead and use these two
- 00:47 sections here, the Today and the Next 7 days function, in a bit more detail.
- 00:53 Now as you can see here, I have two items inside of my Inbox.
- 00:56 We're going to plot these out using the due date experience.
- 01:01 And then in the next feature, we're going to dive into Reminders.
- 01:04 First on the list would be to Buy Ingredients before we cook the salmon.
- 01:09 Now, as you can see here, once I click into a task,
- 01:11 there is a section called Schedule, and you're probably wondering what is this?
- 01:16 Now, once I click into it, I open up into this lovely panel here.
- 01:21 I can see a range of different pre-created dates up here.
- 01:25 So you can see Today, Tomorrow, Next Week, In 1 Month, or give it No due date.
- 01:32 Now, this is a great way to get started.
- 01:34 For example, if you want to quickly add that you wanted it Tomorrow you can do so
- 01:39 if I'm just hitting this one.
- 01:41 And as you can see here, the due date does appear as the 31 of August,
- 01:45 which is tomorrow.
- 01:47 Now if I get back, I can actually choose a specific date using the date selector.
- 01:52 So I think I'm going to cook the salmon on next Wednesday.
- 01:55 So I'm going to buy the ingredients on Monday.
- 01:58 Now if I select this, I press Save task.
- 02:02 And as you can see here it will appear on Monday.
- 02:05 And as you hover over it, it gives you an indication of how many days are left.
- 02:10 So let's see whether this worked.
- 02:12 I'm going to go over to the Next 7 days and
- 02:14 I can see that I need to buy ingredients on Monday.
- 02:18 And there's no specific time for
- 02:19 that, and it just is an indication that I needed to buy it on Monday.
- 02:24 Now as I mention, I want to cook the salmon on Wednesday.
- 02:27 So I'm going to do the same.
- 02:28 Go into Wednesday and click the 5th, and click Save again.
- 02:33 They all are replicated on the experience.
- 02:35 And of course, this will help you to plan your week ahead.
- 02:38 Now, if I wanted to be very specific about the time, that I buy this.
- 02:43 That might be helpful for when I'm organizing, whether it's a reminder, or
- 02:47 whether it's an activity that I've got going on during the day.
- 02:50 So I have some time in the morning to buy the ingredients, so
- 02:54 I'm going to put at 10 AM.
- 02:56 Now Todolist does allow you to add specific task times, and that's great
- 03:00 actually, because once you start adding a lot of detail, you can do so.
- 03:04 So if I click Save, you can see here that it's come up Monday at 10 am.
- 03:10 Now if I go inside of this area, it does give an indication of 10 am on Monday,
- 03:15 which is a bit more specific.
- 03:17 Now I can do that with any of the tasks I have, and it's a great way to do it.
- 03:21 Now, for example, at any given point, if I wanted to change both of these due dates,
- 03:25 or scheduled them for another time, on a specific date, I click schedule and
- 03:30 move down and choose them for a specific dates.
- 03:33 So for example, let's say I want to shuffle them both to Thursday,
- 03:35 I can click that, and it will both be moved to Thursday.
- 03:39 Now they won't appear on the Next 7 days, mainly because that's not available.
- 03:43 However, if I typed in Thursday, the 6th of September,
- 03:48 as you can see here, they both appear on this date.
- 03:51 So you can use the search to plan ahead and see all of your activities.
- 03:55 And of course, within a day's time, it will appear in the Next 7 days section.
- 04:00 As you may have seen inside of this experience,
- 04:03 you can use something called smart schedule.
- 04:06 Smart schedule appears in the top left hand corner on this schedule panel, and
- 04:10 also available when you are searching up here.
- 04:13 So for example, if I wanted to schedule these days and move them around,
- 04:17 I can use something called smart schedule.
- 04:19 We'll be diving into this in the next feature and
- 04:21 it really will help you to organize your week ahead.
- 04:24 Now, that I've changed the dates of planning the food, it's on the Thursday
- 04:29 now, I can of course, if I wanted to, make this a regular occurrence.
- 04:34 So for example, let's say I wanted to cook this every Thursday for
- 04:38 the next couple of weeks, including this upcoming Thursday.
- 04:41 Then what you can do is type in every Thursday.
- 04:46 And what will happen is, of course today is Thursday, it will appear in the next
- 04:52 Thursday, and the next Thursday, and that is called a recurring due date.
- 04:56 And it's a good way to plan ahead.
- 04:59 It's very important that for example, if you had an activity like clean the house,
- 05:06 that you had on your list and you wanted to do it every 3 days,
- 05:11 it will automatically understand that.
- 05:14 And as you can see here,
- 05:15 you can see that they will pair every three days starting today.
- 05:19 Now this is a very handy feature and
- 05:21 something that a lot of people enjoy about Todoist.
- 05:24 Recurring reminders help people remind themselves of important
- 05:28 dates that just continue and helped you to build a habit and routine.
- 05:34 So that was a short introduction to the due dates.
- 05:37 In the next feature, we'll be diving into reminders, so
- 05:39 feel free to join us in that feature.
- 05:43 Make sure to take advantage of the exercises and
- 05:46 I will see you guys in the next feature, cheers.
