- 00:10 many people training many specific skills is to use the video recorder.
- 00:16 Now I got into the training business way back in 1984, did my first training and
- 00:22 back then, video cameras were big, expensive, klunky. You had to hire someone from a TV station,
- 00:28 it was not an easy, efficient thing. These days everybody has a cell phone with
- 00:35 a video camera, at least of the people you're likely training. So use that.
- 00:41 This is especially effective for any sort of skills that people are doing
- 00:47 with their body. Whether they're speaking, whether they're teaching, whether they are training,
- 00:53 whether they are canoeing or kayaking, whether they are performing surgery. If it's something
- 01:00 that isn't purely intellectual, cerebral, then doing something
- 01:06 with a video component is extraordinarily powerful. I will tell you though, people
- 01:13 hate it initially. They will fight you on this. They will complain. They will
- 01:19 say no. They'll try to sit in the back of the room. But once you get them over the hump,
- 01:25 once you get them used to that, they will appreciate it because they will see a radical transformation.

- 01:40 How to conduct meetings effectively. When you show people video of themselves, what they're
- 01:46 doing wrong, and critiquing that, but also what they're doing well, that creates the ultimate experience.

- 01:59 people on updates in securities law, then you're not going to be able to do this. But for many, many
- 02:05 other skills that you're training in the workplace, the video camera is an
- 02:11 underused tool and I believe, based on my own experience, having conducted thousands and
- 02:17 thousands of trainings with video, it is the most effective tool for training
- 02:24 and teaching many, many skills.
