Cards Overview
- Cards can represent anything that you would like to manage. They can be tasks, ideas, people, places, etc.
- A card can only exist in 1 list at any given time.
- Cards can be moved from one list to another by dragging them into the desired list.
- Cards can contain a lot of additional information including images, attachments, labels, and due dates.
- Most Trello boards are designed for cards to pass along a particular workflow. However, this is not required.
- 00:04 You are now comfortable with creating new Trello boards and
- 00:08 how to create lists within those boards.
- 00:12 Let's now look at the final component of the Trello application and
- 00:16 really the lifeblood of any Trello board: cards.
- 00:20 Cards can represent almost anything within your Trello board.
- 00:25 They can be ideas or tasks.
- 00:28 They can represent people or projects or even places.
- 00:33 Depending on what you would like to manage or what you would like to organize,
- 00:37 Trello cards can represent almost anything.
- 00:41 In the example you see here, I've created a simple task management system.
- 00:47 I've created four lists titled Ideas,
- 00:51 Projects, Tasks, and a final one labeled Completed.
- 00:56 And the purpose of this simple board is to start with an idea
- 01:01 on the left hand side of the screen and drag or
- 01:05 move that card through the process all the way to the completed list.
- 01:11 Now you can see here that cards can contain a variety of information.
- 01:16 You can include images, like the two cards that you see here.
- 01:21 You can add attachments to cards, such as files or
- 01:25 other documents that you would like to be a part of that card.
- 01:28 You can add due dates to a card.
- 01:31 You can even add different colors or different labels,
- 01:35 perhaps to prioritize different cards within a particular list.
- 01:40 And you can also see you can even attach yourself or
- 01:44 assign others to particular cards to make sure that you receive updates and
- 01:50 maybe to identify who has ownership of a particular card.
- 01:56 Now just like we can drag and move our lists in any order that we like,
- 02:01 we can do the same thing with our cards.
- 02:04 To move or rearrange a card, simply select it and drag it to its desired position.
- 02:11 This can help you either stack rank a list of cards within a particular list or
- 02:18 you can click and drag that card and move it to a different list.
- 02:24 Now, one card can only exist in one list at any given time.
- 02:30 You do have the ability to copy a card, but once that card has been copied,
- 02:35 they are two separate or two distinct cards.
- 02:40 So, in this particular example here, I may wish to move my Write a book idea and
- 02:46 transition it, graduate it to an actual project.
- 02:51 And this may be helpful as I may want to create new tasks
- 02:55 based on that new project here.
- 02:58 I'm sure you'll come up with many different ideas of your own
- 03:03 as how you would like to set up your first Trello board.
- 03:07 But let's move onto the next module and
- 03:09 learn all about how we can use cards effectively.
