Learn how to organize a home renovation project so that your new kitchen can become a reality.

To understand the benefits of using a board to manage images, ideas, and tasks related to a home renovation project.
Instructions
Trello is an excellent application for managing non-work related projects. A renovation project within your home is a great example for using this flexible tool.
The different lists represented in this Home Renovation board include:
Kitchen Ideas: This list includes all of the various ideas that you may have for your brand new kitchen.
To Do: This list includes the actual tasks that will need to be completed as a part of the project.
In Progress: This list represents all of the tasks that have already been started and are currently being worked on.
Waiting For: This list includes all of the tasks that are waiting for someone else to reply or respond in order to progress.
Done: This list represents all of the tasks that have been completed in full.

- 00:07 is how we can use Trello to manage a home renovation project.
- 00:12 As anyone who's been involved in redoing a kitchen, a bathroom, or
- 00:16 perhaps even an entire home, there is a lot of work to be done,
- 00:21 there is a lot of things to keep track of.
- 00:23 So in this example we are looking at doing a kitchen renovation.
- 00:28 And very much like some of the other boards we've looked at we will look at
- 00:32 moving things from the left-hand side of the board
- 00:35 all the way through to the final list, which is titled done.
- 00:39 And this board in particular highlights the advantage of using lots and
- 00:44 lots of images.
- 00:46 As you are debating different colors, different textures,
- 00:50 different devices to include in your home renovation project,
- 00:55 it can be very helpful to have those images either attached to the card, or
- 00:59 also as a part of the card cover.
- 01:02 Our very first column is titled, the Kitchen Ideas, and
- 01:06 this can be a great place to add and attach new ideas as you browse
- 01:12 different websites, perhaps you're on Pinterest and you have some inspiration,
- 01:17 you can grab those images and place them here within this list.
- 01:22 Now the very second list is titled to do,
- 01:25 these are things that we've decided to actually follow through with.
- 01:29 And they can include due dates, such as removing the old stove,
- 01:32 perhaps that needs to be accomplished a day before we install the new flooring.
- 01:38 So, a nice way to keep your to do list here within the same Trello board.
- 01:44 Next we have the In Progress list and these are things that are ongoing,
- 01:49 things that we already started but we have not yet completed,
- 01:53 perhaps we're working with multiple contractors trying to get the best price.
- 01:58 Perhaps we are still trying to determine where exactly
- 02:03 we should be putting that particular cabinet, or
- 02:06 where we should be installing a particular appliance, in our new kitchen.
- 02:11 The very next list in our board is titled Waiting For.
- 02:15 And this can be very helpful if you're waiting on others to get back to you.
- 02:20 Perhaps you're still in the process of receiving quotes for
- 02:24 different pieces of granite.
- 02:27 Perhaps you are still determining on which faucet to select,
- 02:31 because you have not selected the new sink.
- 02:35 And then lastly, we have the Done column,
- 02:38 very much like we saw on the Personal Projects and To Do list board.
- 02:43 We can move everything that is 100% complete into this Done list and
- 02:48 always go back and review its components at a later date.
- 02:53 So whether it's home renovation, whether it's a sales pipeline or
- 02:58 whether it's planning for a vacation, there are unlimited ways in which
- 03:03 you can use Trello to help organize both your personal and your professional life.
