Login to download- 00:04 Hello, in this lesson I'm gonna teach you about Bullets & Numbering that first of
- 00:08 all before we get started we gonna make sure your ruler is on your screen
- 00:12 helpfully it is.
- 00:13 And let's just confirm quick on your view ribbon, and
- 00:15 right over here we do wanna check mark on ruler and
- 00:18 then you should actually visibly see the ruler at the top and the left side.
- 00:22 If you still don't see them, please make sure here on the bottom right
- 00:26 that you actually are on the second button here, which is your print layout view.
- 00:30 And then, you should absolutely see your rules.
- 00:32 All right. Let's go back to the Home ribbon,
- 00:34 in the paragraph section, right up here is our bullets and numbering.
- 00:38 Basically, these are on off switches.
- 00:39 They're either on or they're off, okay.
- 00:41 So we are gonna start with bullets.
- 00:43 I must first select the list that I want to apply bullets to.
- 00:46 So when I select, and of course, my mini bar comes up on the selection, and
- 00:50 there is a Bullets button and a Numbering button here, too.
- 00:52 So it doesn't matter where you work, on the mini bar or up on the ribbon.
- 00:56 I'm gonna go ahead and stay right here since it's right where my eyes are.
- 01:00 So I'm gonna go ahead and click on the bullets, and
- 01:02 the bullets are on just like that.
- 01:04 When I click off of it you can see the individual lines.
- 01:07 And you can also see that my bullets are activated right up here.
- 01:10 It looks like they are grayed out.
- 01:11 The button is gray, so that means it's on.
- 01:13 All right, now what if I decide on tomatoes,
- 01:16 I don't want a bullet item on there.
- 01:17 Well, just go up and turn the button off for that line.
- 01:20 So click No bullets on Tomatoes.
- 01:22 Click again, bullet.
- 01:24 Another way, another thing you can do with these bullets,
- 01:26 is if you just click one of them, they all, the whole list will look grey.
- 01:30 I can actually change the color of the bullet by changing the font color.
- 01:33 And changing it to red, there you go.
- 01:35 Now, I've got red bullets okay.
- 01:37 We can also change the style of the bullets.
- 01:39 I'll go ahead and highlight the entire section,
- 01:42 I'll hit the drop down arrow next to the bullet and look at all these.
- 01:45 I can change all of these in here to whatever I want.
- 01:48 We can even go down here to find new bullet, and
- 01:52 we have symbols, pictures and fonts.
- 01:54 Now picture, you could actually get a picture of someone and
- 01:56 have their little tiny face as the bullet.
- 01:59 Or here we have symbol with every kind of font that's in the word program,
- 02:05 and each one of them has an entire different set of bullets available.
- 02:09 So you have endless, endless opportunities for bullet designs.
- 02:13 So go ahead and hit OK on this and
- 02:15 leave, I guess I ended up with little diamonds, that's fine.
- 02:18 All right, so that's enough about the bullets, now let's work on numbering.
- 02:21 So I'm gonna go ahead and turn off bullets for this list, and
- 02:24 I'm gonna turn on numbering.
- 02:26 So It's just an on or off switch, go ahead and hit the numbering and
- 02:30 there we have one, two, three, four, five.
- 02:32 Now on avocados I'm going to go ahead and triple click avocados and
- 02:36 color that on red cuz I want to show you what happens when we reorganize this list.
- 02:41 So I've got one through six, but I want to sort these.
- 02:44 So I'll go ahead and sort these, and I'll choose alphabetically and
- 02:48 hit okay and watch.
- 02:50 Avocados rearranges self but look, the bullet, the number.
- 02:53 I'm sorry the number automatically renumbered themselves.
- 02:57 So you don't have to worry about turning off numbering or
- 03:00 renumbering after you sort something.
- 03:01 It will take care of it for you.
- 03:04 Now another thing about these is,
- 03:05 what if I don't want avocados to have a number at all?
- 03:08 Guess what, just like bullets, we just turn the numbering off for
- 03:12 that particular line.
- 03:13 I do want numbering, so I'll just turn it back on.
- 03:15 Notice there's a drop down arrow next to the numbering.
- 03:17 When I hit that, I can have numbers with let's say parenthesis.
- 03:22 I can have capitals.
- 03:23 I can have lower case.
- 03:24 I can have any kind of numbering format you want.
- 03:28 I'll go ahead and just stick with this one,
- 03:30 but there's one more thing about that ruler I wanted to show you.
- 03:33 Now the ruler has a little indent here and we'll talk about this more in the indent.
- 03:38 Lesson but when you hit the very bottom of the point to the mouse matters.
- 03:42 So, when you hit the very bottom of this arrow, you can click and drag and
- 03:47 actually move that particular line anywhere you want.
- 03:50 Now, why is only avocado moving because I was only clipped into the avocado line.
- 03:55 So, I'm gonna Ctr+Z and put it back I'm going to highlight the entire list, and
- 04:00 now I'm going to move the entire list wherever I want it.
- 04:04 That's when you wanna look at the ruler,
- 04:06 you wanna have milling when you're working on bullets and numbering.
- 04:09 And what happens with this top one?
- 04:11 I'm gonna put my ticker the mouse in this top arrow and
- 04:15 clicking drag that, only the numbers move, not the entire list.
- 04:19 See, so that's how you can be in total control over bullets and numbering.
- 04:23 Turn them on, turn them off, turn them different colors, and
- 04:26 move them around on the ruler.
- 04:28 Okay, thank you.
