Quick reference
Adoption Center Resource Library
Visit the adoption center for Copilot to find valuable resources and information.
When to use
We go to the adoption center whenever we want to learn more about prompt creation, available resources, the features of Copilot across applications, and how we can join the Copilot community.
Instructions
The Copilot Adoption Centre is a great place to go for Copilot resources, help, and information. The adoption center is there to help us and our team get started with Microsoft Copilot.
To access the adoption center simply open a web browser and go to adoption.microsoft.com/copilot.
It's worth bearing in mind that because Copilot is a rapidly changing application, the page you see when visiting the adoption center might be different to the page shown in this lesson. All information is up to date at the time of recording.
On this page, we find valuable resources and information about Copilot, such as preparing for Copilot, how Copilot works, and opportunites to join the Copilot community.
Resources by role
It's also possible to filter Copilot resources by job role ensuring that we only see the information relevant to us and our job.
What's New in Copilot
The 'What's New in Copilot' section lists the latest updates to Copilot. This is an important section to read as the application is changing rapidly.
Download the Copilot App
Copilot can also be accessed 'on the go' by downloading the Copilot app for IOS or Android. The app gives us access to Copilot for Bing and we can use it to ask questions, get information, and harness the power of Dall-E to generate images.
Prompt Skills
This section of the page allows us to get guidance on prompt creation. The quality of the responses we get from Copilot depends on the quality and detail of the prompt. use the handout available to improve your prompt skills.
Copilot in Microsoft 365 Applications
In this section, we can explore how Copilot works within each application. Interested in seeing how you can use Copilot to analyze data in Excel? Or maybe you want help from Copilot to draft an email? Simply click on the relevant application to read more.
- 00:04 Before we even get started with Microsoft Copilot,
- 00:08 I highly recommend that you jump across to this webpage just here and
- 00:12 really have a good read-through of the information.
- 00:15 This is an invaluable resource when it comes to understanding Standing,
- 00:20 the capabilities of Microsoft Copilot.
- 00:23 So all you need to do is fire up a web browser and go directly to this URL.
- 00:28 Alternatively, you can just type into Google or
- 00:31 Bing, Microsoft Copilot adoption, and it will take you to this page.
- 00:36 Now I'm recording this course in January 2024.
- 00:40 So depending on when you come to this course,
- 00:43 you might find that when you come here, this page has completely changed.
- 00:47 So just be aware of that.
- 00:50 Microsoft do tend to move things around and switch things up fairly often.
- 00:55 But right now, this is what this page looks like.
- 00:58 Let's have a quick scroll through.
- 00:59 Now, what you'll find on this page are lots of useful videos.
- 01:02 You can see we have a video just here.
- 01:04 And if we scroll down, we can do things like check the steps that we need to take
- 01:08 in order to prepare for Copilot.
- 01:11 We can learn how Copilot works, or we can join the Copilot community.
- 01:16 And I would highly recommend, particularly at this very early stage,
- 01:21 that you do join the community.
- 01:22 Because you might have a lot of questions about Copilot, or you might be in charge
- 01:27 of a team at an organization that has lots of queries that you need to answer.
- 01:32 So having that support of the wider Copilot community is going to be really
- 01:37 beneficial.
- 01:38 Another thing I really like on this side is Resources by role.
- 01:41 So you can choose your role, for example, I'm an IT professional.
- 01:45 And underneath, we then have the relevant Copilot topics for that particular role.
- 01:51 So again, I would select my role and then I'd have a read-through of all of these.
- 01:57 You can never have too much information.
- 01:59 Now if we scroll down even further, we have a What's new in Copilot section.
- 02:03 So this is where you're going to find links to all of the latest Copilot
- 02:07 updates.
- 02:08 And at the moment, these are coming thick and fast.
- 02:11 As I said, in the last few days, we've got the announcement from Microsoft that
- 02:16 Copilot has been expanded to small and medium sized businesses and
- 02:19 Microsoft 365 subscribers.
- 02:21 Also the introduction of Copilot Pro.
- 02:24 As you can see,
- 02:25 we have links to articles here where you can learn a bit more about that.
- 02:28 And then if we scroll down a little bit further,
- 02:31 we can download Copilot onto our mobile device.
- 02:34 And you can see, Copilot is available in the App Store for iOS users and
- 02:39 also the Google Play Store for Android users.
- 02:42 And I have the iOS app on my phone and I really like it.
- 02:46 I like having Copilot functionality with me on the go.
- 02:50 I can't tell you how many times I've been sat on a train,
- 02:54 asking Copilot questions or generating some fun images.
- 02:57 We then have a section about building our prompt skills.
- 03:00 Because this is fundamental when it comes to working with not just Copilot,
- 03:05 but any AI tool.
- 03:07 The quality of the responses that you get from Copilot really does depend on
- 03:11 the prompt that you've used.
- 03:13 And the prompt is the terminology we use for typing our question, or
- 03:17 requesting our information in Copilot.
- 03:20 And there is so much information out there at the moment about what we call prompt
- 03:24 engineering to ensure that you're using the best prompts to get the best results.
- 03:29 You can see here we have a couple of handouts related to prompt do's and
- 03:33 don'ts, and also the ingredients of a prompt.
- 03:35 So these are really going to help you when it comes to knowing what the best prompts
- 03:40 to use are.
- 03:40 Now, if we scroll down a bit further, we have a Copilot for you section.
- 03:44 And you can see here we have some featured prompts.
- 03:47 These are popular prompts that you might want to use.
- 03:49 And then as we get towards the bottom of this page,
- 03:53 we can deep dive into Copilot for specific applications.
- 03:57 So maybe you're only interested in using Copilot in Excel.
- 04:01 I could go to here, I could say learn more, and that's going to take me to
- 04:06 the page that is specifically related to using Copilot in Excel.
- 04:10 I can see the types of things that I can do with data,
- 04:13 how I can focus on what matters and create better visualizations and formulas.
- 04:19 So basically, all of the information that you need is on this adoption page.
- 04:23 I recommend you have a read through this thoroughly to give yourself
- 04:27 a good understanding of the capabilities of Copilot.
