- 00:04 Let's start off with a quick win.
- 00:05 One of the easiest things you can do and quickest things you can ever do to
- 00:11 really get going on the right path of setting your own goals in life,
- 00:16 is to take your cell phone and turn it off.
- 00:19 I don't mean forever, I don't mean throwing it away, and
- 00:22 you may be watching this course on a cell phone, which is great.
- 00:25 But you've got to spend some time each day,
- 00:28 even if it's just ten minutes with your cell phone off.
- 00:31 Why is that so important?
- 00:33 Because your cell phone is bombarding you with goals all day long,
- 00:39 other people's goals.
- 00:41 The good folks at Facebook, and Netflix,
- 00:44 and Google are sending you messages all day long with their goals.
- 00:48 Their goals are for you to watch more mindless entertainment,
- 00:52 to waste more time on Facebook, to scroll through more spam.
- 00:57 That's how they make money from advertising.
- 01:00 So it's not just about setting goals,
- 01:03 it's about giving your mind time to think about the goals you want.
- 01:08 And if you're like most people checking your cell phone every two minutes,
- 01:12 you're not going to have space in your own brain for your own goals.
- 01:16 So that is step one.
- 01:18 Whether you do it now or later in the day, set aside some time, at least ten
- 01:23 minutes a day, where your phone is not on vibrate, but literally off.
- 01:28 That frees up your brain to think about your goals for life.
- 01:33 Before we get too far in, let's do one more really quick win.
- 01:38 I want you to write down just one simple goal you have for yourself.
- 01:44 For example,
- 01:45 I have the goal of drinking one large glass of water first thing every morning.
- 01:50 Would I probably remember if I didn't write it down?
- 01:52 Maybe, but it's the sheer act of writing it down and
- 01:56 then looking at that written down that helps me fulfill that goal.
- 02:02 So, I want you to do that right now, be really specific.
- 02:05 It doesn't have to be some big grand thing like become a billionaire and
- 02:09 change the world, it can be really, really tiny and small.
- 02:12 So please, write it down.
- 02:13 You can use the notes section of the course, a piece of paper.
- 02:17 And yes, even though I told you to put your cell phone away, if you want to write
- 02:21 it down in your cell phone, do that, but don't keep watching videos just yet.
- 02:25 I want you to write down one highly specific goal you have.
