- 01:15 Why do I talk about audio, specifically SelfieSpeak programming audio?
- 01:21 Because there are a lot of different ways you can try to influence your brain.
- 01:24 You can try to manufacture posters and put them around your house, but
- 01:29 that's awkward.
- 01:30 It looks weird if other people are looking at it.
- 01:33 You gotta go to an art store and buy posters.
- 01:36 You could spend a lot of money on billboards outside your house, too.
- 01:39 I guess that takes a lot of money.
- 01:42 You could write a whole book and read your own book every day, very time consuming.
- 01:48 Let's face it, nobody's going to do that.
- 01:51 But audio is different, it's just talking.
- 01:56 And even though these days most of us are used to texting all day long,
- 02:00 it's still easier to talk, especially to a cell phone, than it is
- 02:05 to write whole coherent paragraphs and thoughts about our feelings.
- 02:10 That's why I like audio, creating audio.
- 02:13 Also, it's just so flexible.
- 02:16 You can be listening to an audio while you're driving,
- 02:20 because this is not meditation, folks, this is not hypnosis.
- 02:24 You can be listening to an audio while you're on a subway,
- 02:28 while you're on a plane, while you're on a bus, while you're on a walk.
- 02:34 You can listen to audio, it's so flexible because you can be doing other things.
- 02:38 What we're talking about is you pull up your cell phone and
- 02:44 you go to the utilities, at least that's where it is in mine.
- 02:50 I go to Voice Memos, there's a red button, and you may have a different app.
- 02:57 And I just hit record, TJ, you are going to make
- 03:01 something creative every single day for four hours.
- 03:06 You're going to block out your time with deep work.
- 03:10 That means you're going to turn your cell phone off, no email, you're going to
- 03:15 block your computers, you're not going to be able to check Internet news.
- 03:20 You are just going to create new online courses
- 03:25 because you are an online course creator.
- 03:30 That's 30 seconds.
- 03:32 Is it perfect?
- 03:33 No, and then I can hit Play.
- 03:37 TJ, you are going to make.
- 03:38 And if I listen to this every day, it will in fact
- 03:44 increase the odds that I do create every day for
- 03:49 four hours and make my creations come alive.
- 03:53 So let's not overcomplicate.
- 03:55 If you are concerned about your weight, there's nothing wrong with telling
- 03:59 yourself you're going to weigh yourself every day.
- 04:02 Drink water as soon as you get up and
- 04:05 only drink water at every meal, if that's what you decide.
- 04:10 But by listening to it every single day, you just go a little deeper.
- 04:17 You build another groove in your brain, another impression.
- 04:22 We can create radio ads for ourself.
- 04:26 We can create a podcast for ourself.
- 04:31 That may be a way of thinking of it if that helps you.
- 04:34 A podcast just for you, a day in the life of me, and
- 04:38 do your podcast as if almost you were a news anchor talking about your day.
- 04:44 And what goes through, and all the good things that are going to happen,
- 04:49 all the wonderful habits you exhibit on a daily basis.
- 04:53 If that helps you, try that approach.
- 04:56 But TJ, I don't like the sound of my own voice.
- 05:00 Nobody cares about the sound of your voice.
- 05:04 Here's a little secret.
- 05:05 Nobody likes the sound of their own voice the first time they hear it, or
- 05:10 the second time, or third time.
- 05:13 But after a while, your voice is like any other voice.
- 05:18 The value of this course doesn't come from me.
- 05:22 It only comes from you taking some version of what I say and
- 05:27 creating your own version of it
- 05:30 in an audio format that you can listen to every day.
- 05:35 So you don't have to make an hour tape.
- 05:38 You make a mistake, don't worry about it.
- 05:41 Just start off with something simple,
- 05:43 30 seconds about how you want to do something differently in life.
- 05:49 Now, I've done it both ways before.
- 05:51 I've had eight, ten different audios, and
- 05:53 I just pick which ones I want in the order.
- 05:56 Now what I do is I'm even lazier,
- 05:59 I just made all of my audios exactly as I wanted in one take.
- 06:06 It's less than an hour.
- 06:08 That way, what I want to start my morning, all I have to do is push one button, Play.
- 06:13 I don't have to fish around for anything.
- 06:15 But you can try experimenting with short audios to help
- 06:19 get you focused on different aspects of your life.
- 06:23 You can do one just on health, one just on sleep, one on your reading habits.
- 06:30 You get to pick, not me, but you.
- 06:34 Now it's your turn.
- 06:34 I want you to pull out your cell phone, hit the Memo Record, the Audio Record,
- 06:40 whatever app is on your phone that allows you to record your voice.
- 06:45 And I want you to create your entire SelfieSpeak
- 06:49 program that lays out for you your goals for your life,
- 06:54 all the goals you have for your seven spheres.
- 06:59 Just talk to yourself.
- 07:00 Don't worry about time.
- 07:02 It might take you 2 minutes, might take you 22 minutes.
- 07:07 Doesn't matter, don't worry about time, don't worry about editing.
- 07:10 Just talk to yourself and remind yourself in a friendly tone of voice
- 07:15 exactly how you want your life to be, what you want your goals to be,
- 07:20 what you want your habits to be, record it.
- 07:23 Please do that now.
- 07:25 Because if you then listen to this every day forever or
- 07:29 until you make a change, it is going to have the most profound
- 07:34 impact on your life that you have ever experienced.
