Login to download- 00:04 To make an effective presentation,
- 00:07 you will want to add a lot more than just text to your slide show.
- 00:11 Google Slides gives us the ability to add a variety of images,
- 00:16 shapes, graphics and even video to our slides.
- 00:20 In the main toolbar, we see some of the more common things that we add to our
- 00:24 slides including a text box, images, shape,
- 00:29 and even arrows and various lines and connectors to our slides.
- 00:35 Let’s start by adding an image.
- 00:37 I’m gonna select the image and we have the same numerous ways in which
- 00:41 we can add images as we saw within Google Docs.
- 00:45 In this example, I'm going to upload an image directly from my computer.
- 00:50 Once it is finished uploading, it will appear within my slide and
- 00:54 I can resize it and make other editing changes,
- 00:57 including dragging it to the desired location within my slide.
- 01:02 But to see the full extent of the things that we can insert into our slide show,
- 01:06 we will wanna select the insert menu.
- 01:09 Here you can see the full list of things in which we can add to our slides.
- 01:14 We can add charts to our slides if we like.
- 01:17 We can make certain images or text linkable.
- 01:20 We can even add video.
- 01:23 Let's select the video option.
- 01:25 This is going to allow us to import video either from our Google Drive account or
- 01:30 to find video from YouTube.
- 01:33 In this case, I'm gonna select this video here.
- 01:36 I'm gonna select the Select button, and
- 01:39 now it's going to bring this video directly into the slide.
- 01:43 Now, during my presentation, when I get to this slide,
- 01:47 I will be able to play this video directly from YouTube.
- 01:52 Some of the other options that we have within the insert menu is the ability to
- 01:56 add Word art, this gives us an opportunity to be even
- 02:01 more fancy or creative with some of our text-based words.
- 02:06 Again, we see the options to add lines, or
- 02:09 to add shapes, maybe I'd like to add an arrow to this slide.
- 02:14 I can select this option, and then draw the arrow, and then change the size and
- 02:19 the dimensions to it directly on screen.
- 02:23 We also have the ability to add a table within our slide and add animations.
- 02:29 Now, we're gonna look at animations with a bit more detail in a following video.
- 02:34 Some cases you may wish to add slide numbers to your slide show.
- 02:38 By selecting this option, we can turn slide numbers on or off and
- 02:43 choose if we want to skip the title slide.
- 02:46 In this case, I'm gonna say Apply.
- 02:50 And now you will see in the bottom right hand corner,
- 02:53 I have the number of the slide appearing here.
- 02:57 And this will appear on all of my slides as I have selected.
- 03:02 Our last options here are the ability to add a comment to this slide, and
- 03:06 we also have the option to add a new slid or to import existing slides.
- 03:13 So get familiar with the insert menu and get familiar with
- 03:16 some of the options that are available to you right here on the toolbar.
- 03:21 As you add video, as you add images, or
- 03:24 perhaps a variety of shapes to liven up your presentation.
