Quick reference
Create a Rating Scale Question
Create a rating scale question and add it to the survey.
When to use
We add a rating scale question whenever we want the recipients of the form to rate something, e.g. rate this product out of 10.
Instructions
Add a Rating Scale Question
- Click Add New.
- Click Rating.
- Type the question.
- Click the drop-down next to Levels and choose how many levels you want.
- Click the drop-down next to Symbol and choose what symbol you want to use to represent the rating. The symbol can also be a number.
Add Labels
We can add labels to rating scale questions. Labels add context to the rating scale by applying a label to level 1 and level 5.
- Click the three dots.
- Click Label.
- Enter appropriate labels for level 1 and level 5.
Preview
- Click the Preview button.
- 00:04 In this lesson, we're going to continue building out our survey, and
- 00:08 we're going to add in a rating question.
- 00:10 So let's scroll down, and this time, we're going to choose Rating.
- 00:16 Now, notice here we can add our question, and
- 00:19 then we can choose how we want to rate this question.
- 00:23 Now, the default here is to have 5 levels.
- 00:26 But we could change this by clicking the drop-down and
- 00:29 maybe I want to rate something out of 10 as opposed to 5.
- 00:33 Now, I'm going to keep it on 5, that is a few too many styles for my liking, but
- 00:38 we can also change the symbol that we're using as well.
- 00:41 So if you don't like the Star, we have Number, Heart, Ribbon, and
- 00:46 a few other options in here.
- 00:48 Now, if we select Number,
- 00:49 this is going to allow people to rank something based on 1 to 5.
- 00:53 So let's add in our question.
- 00:55 Out of 5, how would you rate the product range by Happy Flame?
- 01:00 Now, we have a couple of options that we can modify here.
- 01:02 We can set if this question is required or not.
- 01:04 In this case, it's not, we're going to leave that toggled off.
- 01:08 If we click the three dots, again, we can add a subtitle to add more context, we can
- 01:13 add branching, we're going to look at that later, but we can also add a label.
- 01:17 Now, I can add a label for number 1 and number 5.
- 01:21 So this kind of gives the recipient who is completing this survey a bit more of
- 01:26 an idea as to the context of this rating.
- 01:29 So for example,
- 01:30 the question is how would you rate the product range offered by Happy Flame?
- 01:34 Now, if they were to rate it a 1, I'm going to assume that that is not good,
- 01:39 so we're going to have poor as the label.
- 01:42 Whereas if they rate it 5 out of 5, that's excellent, so we can add that in.
- 01:47 So when I click away, you get those labels at either end of the scale to
- 01:51 give people more of an idea as to how they should be rating the product range.
- 01:56 If you really don't like those there, you can click again, click the three dots, and
- 02:01 just remove label.
- 02:02 Let's preview our survey, and we can see there are our rating buttons.
- 02:07 And as we hover over them, we get a nice faded out effect.
