Insert Space Between Note Containers
This lesson will show how to add more space between your containers.
When to use
When you want to add more text to a container, there may be more containers below. Instead of moving containers individually, you can use this method to save time.
Instructions
- Go to a page in your OneNote that has more than one container
- Move one of the containers right below another
- Click on the Insert Menu
- Click on the Insert Space icon on the left side of the Insert Menu
- Move your mouse between two containers
- Drag your mouse down
- Notice how everything below your mouse moves down all at the same time
Hints & tips
- You can also use the Insert Space icon to split a container
- 00:04 Let's see how we can insert space between your note containers.
- 00:09 So I'm going to move this container.
- 00:11 See how I'm at the top of the container, and I get the icon with the four arrows.
- 00:15 And I'll just pick it up and move it over here.
- 00:19 And I'm going to pick up the one for the countries.
- 00:20 I'll pick up the container for the countries.
- 00:24 See, I have the icon with the four arrows and others pick it up and drag it over here.
- 00:27 Now let's say I wanted more space between the original To Do List,
- 00:33 and these two other containers.
- 00:36 Well, I could continue to drag them, but here's an interesting way.
- 00:41 I'm going to come up here and pick on the Insert menu, Insert,
- 00:46 and then it says Insert space.
- 00:48 See it? So, insert space and now you get this line icon.
- 00:55 See where my mouse is, I'm between those containers.
- 01:00 And then I'm just going to drag it down.
- 01:02 And now see how that moves everything down that was below that.
- 01:06 So that's very, very helpful.
- 01:07 Instead of having to drag the containers individually,
- 01:11 then I could just use that insert space icon.
- 01:15 Now we can also use that to eliminate some of the space.
- 01:19 So I'm going to move my mouse up to that icon again, on the Insert menu, and
- 01:23 I'll pick on insert space.
- 01:25 Now I'll get the line here, right?
- 01:28 So if you notice, I'm going to move that line right above those other containers,
- 01:33 and then I'll drag it up.
- 01:35 And that'll make the space less than it was before.
- 01:40 So when I use insert space, if I get that line and drag it down,
- 01:44 it'll increase the space between the containers up above and
- 01:49 the containers below that line.
- 01:52 Or I can pick on insert space and then get that line again.
- 01:57 And then this time if I drag it up, it'll make that space less between those
- 02:02 containers, and actually move everything up that was below that line.
- 02:06 So that was a great way to insert or even delete the space between the containers.
