Hints & tips
- If you do not see the Draw menu, go to File, then Options, click on Customize Ribbon, and make sure "Draw" is checked under the list of Main Tabs. Hit OK and the Draw menu will appear above the Ribbon.
- 00:04 Let me show you how to use a pen or a highlighter here in your OneNote.
- 00:09 So I have this container that I made in the previous lesson.
- 00:13 So let's say for Microsoft OneNote,
- 00:16 I want to be highlit, almost like using a yellow highlighter.
- 00:20 So in this case, we'll pick on the draw menu.
- 00:23 Now if you don't have the draw menu on yours, you might have to turn that on.
- 00:27 So what I'll do is I'll pick in the File Menu, and
- 00:32 I'll pick on Options - File, Options - then I'll pick on Customize Ribbon.
- 00:37 Now remember the ribbon is a new word for the toolbar.
- 00:41 And then you come over here and make sure the word draw is checked.
- 00:45 So I picked on File, and then Options, then I picked on Customize Ribbon, and
- 00:50 then I made sure the word draw is checked right there.
- 00:53 I'm going to click on OK, and that'll turn on the draw menu, so click on Draw.
- 00:59 Now on the draw menu, you'll see different pens and highlighters.
- 01:03 And then, even here if you click on the arrow, you'll see you know even more pens,
- 01:08 and more highlighting colors, and so forth.
- 01:10 So let's go with the classic yellow, the yellow highlighter, right?
- 01:14 And notice how my mouse looks like that yellow symbol there,
- 01:19 and I'm just going to highlight Microsoft OneNote as you can see.
- 01:24 So it's almost like using a yellow highlighter on a normal piece of paper.
- 01:29 And then of course, I can pick different colors, and so forth, right?
- 01:34 Now let's say I wanted to maybe underline something in red.
- 01:38 So then I'll switch back to the red pen, and
- 01:41 I'm going to underline where is the registered trademark, okay?
- 01:47 So we're using the pens under the draw menu, and you see many different pens,
- 01:52 and highlighters, and colors that you can use.
- 01:55 And to show even more than that, I'll pick on Color and
- 02:00 Thickness, and then you have the thickness of the pen and
- 02:04 then many colors that you can choose from as we can see.
- 02:09 So that can show a lot of flexibility here, all right?
- 02:12 So now if you want it to erase that, when you're done using your pen or
- 02:17 the highlighter, you always want to click on this icon, and
- 02:21 then it'll go back to your normal mouse all right?
- 02:25 So let's say I want to erase that underline,
- 02:28 then notice how there is an eraser there.
- 02:31 Pick up the eraser, and then I'll just click on that red underline, and
- 02:34 then it goes away.
- 02:35 You have to get right on that pinpoint spot to erase that.
- 02:40 There you go.
- 02:41 All right, so make sure you know how to erase the ink,
- 02:45 here's the actual pens and the highlighters.
- 02:49 And then when you're done with everything,
- 02:52 make sure you go back to the type there, so that your mouse is back to normal.
