Instructions
Click the View ribbon and Locate the Current View section:

- View Settings: Edit Advanced view settings
- Reset View: Resets the view to default settings.
Create Your Own View
To create your own view, change the current view until you have the layout and columns how you like it. Then:
- Click on View Settings, and select "Save the current view as a new view..."
- Type in a Name for the new view - it helps to give it a unique name you'll remember.
- Hit OK, and your view will be added to the list of Views under Change View.

- 00:04 We're still talking about the view rhythm, but we're going up a level and
- 00:08 we're going to focus on the left-hand side of the view rhythm where it says
- 00:12 current view, and there's three options to Change the View, View Settings, and
- 00:16 Reset the View.
- 00:17 Now, I mentioned in the previous lesson that I like the table view, and
- 00:22 when I move my reading pane to the bottom, I achieve the table view.
- 00:27 Now I can sort by who it's from, or the subject, the received.
- 00:32 I can even click and drag and move these around.
- 00:37 See, I can just click and drag and reorganize it.
- 00:41 Another thing I can do when I have the table view,
- 00:44 is again on the view ribbon, I can add columns.
- 00:47 So I can click the Add Columns and add any column I want to my list.
- 00:53 I would like to add the To column right under From, so I can see who it's from and
- 00:57 who it's to.
- 00:58 Is it just to me only or a bunch of people on the To line?
- 01:01 I will click on the To, hit the Add, click OK.
- 01:05 Now I've got From and To.
- 01:09 I always like to sort by received so it stays chronological.
- 01:14 But this is only available when I got my reading pane on the bottom.
- 01:18 When I move it back to the right hand side, my gosh, just reset.
- 01:21 Well, let's fix that.
- 01:22 On the View Ribbon far left hand side, change view to any of the current views,
- 01:29 which I don't like, or set up my own, you bet.
- 01:34 I'm going to click on the View Settings button.
- 01:37 Now we have a list, View Setting columns,
- 01:39 which I just did with the Add Columns button above.
- 01:42 Group By, automatically groups, you can see the drop down arrows,
- 01:46 it's grouping by date.
- 01:48 I can sort these.
- 01:49 Well, I can also sort these by clicking on those column headers or sorting over here.
- 01:54 I can turn a filter on, which means search for something.
- 01:58 But notice other settings.
- 01:59 The descriptor here says fonts and other table view settings,
- 02:03 that's what I want, the table view.
- 02:05 I'm going to go ahead and click that, Other Settings.
- 02:08 The trick here is to get this little button checkmark,
- 02:11 always use single line layout, that is the secret sauce.
- 02:16 Well, the way to get that checked is to check this one, Allow in-cell editing.
- 02:21 Notice that automatically put always use a single line layout.
- 02:25 I'll click OK.
- 02:27 Before I leave this,
- 02:28 conditional formatting allows me to change fonts on messages received.
- 02:33 Format Columns allows me to change the date format, and
- 02:36 then Reset Current View, which I don't want to do.
- 02:40 I'm going to go ahead and click OK, click.
- 02:42 My gosh, look what happened.
- 02:44 That one change to my settings allowed my table view to show up, and
- 02:49 I can resize these, reorganize them, sort by them, wonderful thing.
- 02:55 So let's come over to the change view on the far left.
- 02:58 I really like this view, I want to say that.
- 02:59 Click on Change View, look at the bottom.
- 03:03 I can save current view.
- 03:05 As a brand new view, it'll be listed up here with my name on it.
- 03:09 Let's do it.
- 03:10 Save Current View, go ahead and type my name and hit OK.
- 03:16 So in the chance that this gets reset or
- 03:18 I'm on a different folder that doesn't have my table view,
- 03:22 I can just come up here, change the view to Andy's view, and it'll be applied.
- 03:26 This is really a great lesson.
- 03:28 Gives you a lot of control over how your inbox works for you.
