Login to download
- 00:05 The file ribbon is a very important area, so I'll go ahead and click on file ribbon.
- 00:09 And first of all, the way you get back is by hitting this little back button here.
- 00:13 Takes you right back to the main screen.
- 00:15 So let's go ahead and click on file and it defaults to info.
- 00:18 Now, when you take a look at info the first thing you'll look at is
- 00:21 business information.
- 00:23 Now this contains your vital business information.
- 00:26 If you type what's here,
- 00:27 as you use the business building blocks in your document, you won't have typos.
- 00:32 So, all you have to do is click edit business information,
- 00:36 fill out your vital information here once and for all.
- 00:38 You can even add your logo and go ahead and hit save.
- 00:43 Then this will all change and as you need your phone number you just insert that
- 00:48 building block and you have no typo, it's all perfect.
- 00:52 Over on the right we have publication properties.
- 00:55 It gives you your general information but
- 00:56 you do have an option to actually fill out more information under advance properties.
- 01:01 So in this instance I could put a title, a subject, the author, manager, company.
- 01:08 I could fill out key words, comments.
- 01:10 So if this is a document that's going to be sent out of your office,
- 01:13 basically you can tag your identifying information inside the document.
- 01:19 The statistics button is pretty interesting as well.
- 01:21 Now there's nothing in here because I haven't saved this document I've been
- 01:25 working on, but it'll show created date, modified date, last accessed,
- 01:30 which user was using it, the revision number, and here, total editing time.
- 01:35 So if you want to keep track of hours worked on a project,
- 01:38 this is the area you would look.
- 01:40 Again, this is collected by the computer, not by you.
- 01:44 Okay, I'll hit okay on that.
- 01:46 Another section in here is the design checker.
- 01:49 The design checker will actually run through a document and
- 01:52 make sure everything is fine.
- 01:53 Now I clipped it under file and it popped me right out to my document and
- 01:57 gave me a design checker area, a whole pane right over here.
- 02:01 And notice it has found an issue with something on my design.
- 02:04 So I have the option to click on that, read what it's telling me,
- 02:09 have it explain itself, or I can just simply ignore it entirely.
- 02:13 In this case I'm going to ignore this and close it.
- 02:17 I'll go right back to file, cuz there's one more area down here
- 02:21 embedded font information, manage embedded fonts.
- 02:24 Now some fonts just comes standard with the program, but sometimes you can kinda
- 02:28 download them and you want to embed them, that is what you would do this.
- 02:32 Embed two type fonts when saving the publication that will
- 02:35 actually embed to the document itself.
- 02:37 So, you won't have to send the font alongside the file for
- 02:40 the next user to use it.
- 02:42 I tend to stick with basic fonts in the program, but some people like to get
- 02:46 fancy, but anyway, that is the explanation of that right there.
- 02:50 All right again, you have a homework assignment right here,
- 02:54 click on the edit business information and get that set up.
- 02:57 Go ahead and hit the back button.
- 03:00 And if you want to use your information, your business information,
- 03:04 it's under insert and right over here business information and then, of course,
- 03:08 you would pick which item you wanna put into your document.
- 03:11 It's that easy to use it.
- 03:12 Excellent, excellent feature as long as it's set up and useful.
- 03:16 All right, thank you and I'll see you in the next video.
