Notification Settings
Customize notification settings to prevent pop-up bombardment.
When to use
Everyone should customize their notification settings in Teams to prevent a pop-up bombardment but still receive notifications about the important things.
Instructions
If we are a member of multiple teams and channels, it can become quite overwhelming if we receive a notification every time something happens in those teams and channels. We could be receiving hundreds of notifications a day.
We should ensure we review our notification settings and set them to a level that is appropriate for our needs. We may not necessarily need to be notified for all activity.
Notification Settings
- Click on the three dots in the top right-hand corner.
- Click Settings.
- Click Notifications.
We can choose to receive an email daily, weekly, or monthly that shows any missed activity. Simply select the time period from the drop-down.
Appearance and sound
We can choose a notification style: Teams or Windows. The Windows style is larger and shows a bit more detail whereas the Teams style is more discreet.
We can choose to show a message preview in the notification and if we want to play a sound for incoming calls and notifications.
Teams and channels
In this area, we can specify what type of activity we want to be notified about. We can choose All activity, Mentions & replies, or Customized.
The customized option allows us to be more specific about the type of notifications we want to receive and if we want them to show in a banner in the bottom corner of the screen or just in the feed.
