Instructions
To add text to a shape:
- You can click on a shape and start to type to add or replace the text.
- You can also click on a shape and click on the Text Tool to edit the text of a shape.
- You can also right click on a shape, and then click on Edit Text.
To format the text of a shape:
- Click on a shape, and then click the text block tool.
- 00:04 Let's talk about adding text to a shape or
- 00:06 changing the text that's already on a shape.
- 00:10 Now, if a shape doesn't have text, you can just click on it and start to type.
- 00:15 Or if it does have text, you can click on it and just start to type, and
- 00:19 then you'll over type that text.
- 00:21 So for example, I'm going to click on this shape.
- 00:24 And I'm going to say Is login correct?
- 00:31 And then I'm just going to click over here, and now the text has been corrected.
- 00:37 So if a shape doesn't have text, you can just click on it and then type over.
- 00:43 Or if the shape does have text, you can click on that shape, and then type.
- 00:47 And then whatever you will type, will replace what was there before.
- 00:52 I'm going to click on the keyboard for example, and
- 00:54 then I'll just type in the word Keyboard there.
- 00:57 And now you can see how that text is associated with that shape.
- 01:01 I'm just going to click over here.
- 01:03 Now, another thing that you can do to change the text
- 01:05 on a shape is to double click on it.
- 01:08 I can double click on it, and then see how that brings me right to the text.
- 01:11 At that point, I can change it.
- 01:13 I'll just double click on this one, and then I'm in that text.
- 01:17 Another thing that you can do is use the Text tool.
- 01:21 So if I click on that shape,
- 01:22 and then click on the Text tool, that brings me to the text, you see?
- 01:27 So either way that I'm showing you is perfectly fine
- 01:31 as far as changing the text associated with a shape.
- 01:35 Now, let's see how we can actually move, or rotate, or format that text.
- 01:41 I'm going to go back to the Pointer Tool now, I'm going to click on this shape.
- 01:47 Now, let's say I'd like to move that text or rotate it.
- 01:51 So I'm going to click on this icon, which is the text block.
- 01:55 And notice how it actually highlights just the text itself here.
- 01:59 Now notice, I could rotate that if I wanted to, so
- 02:03 I'm just rotating the text without rotating the actual shape itself.
- 02:10 Now, another thing I can do is I can move that text.
- 02:14 So if you notice where my mouse is going to go,
- 02:16 we'll move to the edge here, and get the black cross, and just drag it up.
- 02:21 See how the text is now moved on that shape.
- 02:25 So that's called the Text Block tool.
- 02:28 Let's try something else.
- 02:29 I'm going to go back to the Pointer Tool now.
- 02:32 So in this case, maybe I want this text to be vertical.
- 02:35 So I'm going to click on this shape,
- 02:38 I'm going to pick on the Text Block tool, good.
- 02:41 See I can rotate it like that, very good.
- 02:45 And then from there, another thing I can do is once that
- 02:50 Text Block is selected, then I can format the text.
- 02:54 So for example, I'm going to go back to the Pointer Tool,
- 02:59 I'm going to click on this shape here, and then I'll pick on the Text Block.
- 03:04 Now, watch, so I like to format that text, so I'll make that one red.
- 03:08 And you can see how once I selected that text,
- 03:11 then I can use the Home toolbar to format the text.
- 03:15 And also, let's try this one over here.
- 03:18 So I'll go back to the Pointer Tool, I'll click on this shape.
- 03:21 I want to do something with the text, so I'll go into the Text Block,
- 03:27 and then the whole Text Block is selected, and I'll make that one red as well.
- 03:31 I'll go back to the pointer for now.
- 03:34 So between being able to just click on a shape and
- 03:37 typing over that, if you double click on the shape, then the text is selected.
- 03:43 And by the way, there, I can just select the text and
- 03:45 format it from up here as well.
- 03:48 Or if you really wanted to move that text, or maybe change the angle of it,
- 03:53 so I'm going to go ahead and click on this text again.
- 03:57 I'm going to go back into the Text Block.
- 03:59 And then this is how I can rotate just the text by itself, you see.
- 04:05 And then even from there, I can format it.
- 04:07 Once you're done either with the Text tool or the Text Block tool,
- 04:12 you always want to go back to the Pointer Tool so your mouse is back to normal.
- 04:17 So now you have several ways to add text to a shape or
- 04:20 change the text that's already on a shape.
