Shape Effects

Quick reference

• 00:04 Another thing we can do with the shapes is add some special effects.
• 00:08 So I'm going to go ahead and click on this shape.
• 00:11 And then let's pick on the Home menu, and then we'll come over here and
• 00:15 pick on the word Effects.
• 00:17 So let's see what the effects really look like when I pick on the shadow.
• 00:22 Now the preview mode will really help here.
• 00:25 So I'm going to move my mouse to the shadow and then I'll move my mouse here.
• 00:29 Now if you look really closely at that shape,
• 00:31 notice that small little gray edge around it, so that's the shadow.
• 00:36 And then you can just go ahead and see some of these other ones.
• 00:39 And if you really look closely at that red shape now the shadow is on the left.
• 00:44 Now it's around the whole thing, right?
• 00:46 So you can definitely see what the shadows are doing.
• 00:49 And then even here, now the shadow is on the inside of the shape, right?
• 00:54 So that's the shadow effect, and I really like that preview mode.
• 00:59 See how the shadow is kind of behind it when we use this one over here.
• 01:04 Now let's take a look at the reflection.
• 01:07 And so if I pick on the reflection,
• 01:10 notice how it's kind of reflecting that shape below it, right?
• 01:14 And then each one will show more and
• 01:17 more of the reflection, so you can see what that's doing for us.
• 01:21 Now I think, this one might be a little too much,
• 01:23 because it would take up a lot of room.
• 01:26 But this one, you can see the nice effect that the reflection has.
• 01:31 And you can see what that's doing for you.
• 01:33 Let's pick on the glow.
• 01:34 So the glow really makes the shapes stand out.
• 01:37 So I'll pick on the blue one.
• 01:39 Notice how it has that blue let's call it a glow.
• 01:42 And then you can see each one down is going to add more glow and then more glow.
• 01:47 All right, so
• 01:48 you have the different colors and the different levels of the glow.
• 01:54 Let's try the soft edges over here.
• 01:56 So again, just kind of move your mouse around those and
• 01:58 see what those are doing for you.
• 02:00 See how it's becoming more, this one's very very blurred and so on.
• 02:06 All right, so just a different effect that you can add into your presentation.
• 02:10 Now the bevels are kind of interesting because they're going to give it
• 02:13 like a 3D appearance.
• 02:15 So if I pick on this one, see how you can see that 3D or
• 02:19 this one's even more prominent and so on.
• 02:23 So you can definitely when you have that preview mode on,
• 02:26 that you can really see which one is going to work for you.
• 02:30 All right, and then I'll pick on 3D rotation.
• 02:33 These are kind of interesting,
• 02:35 see how it's actually going to rotate that shape in different ways.
• 02:41 So you pick on the shape, and then you pick on the Home menu and
• 02:46 then you pick on Effects, and then you can try some of these.
• 02:50 So let's go with a shadow effect.
• 02:53 So I kind of like the shadow effect over here.
• 02:55 Another way to get to those is to right click on the shape, and
• 02:58 then pick on the format shapes and then we see the effects over here.
• 03:04 So now here you can get very very specific and make up your own.
• 03:08 Whereas the other ones were more predefined, but
• 03:11 here you can get very specific and make up your own effects, all right?
• 03:16 So hopefully you can see how that really enhances your presentation.
