Use ScreenTips to Add Functionality for Users

• 00:04 This will be a really quick lesson.
• 00:06 I want to show you how to add screen tips to a shape to give that shape more
• 00:10 information and make it more user friendly.
• 00:13 So actually, I'm going to go ahead and first zoom to the proper level here.
• 00:19 I'm going to pick on the View menu, and I'll say Fit to Window.
• 00:22 And that's how it brings it back to the normal page size.
• 00:26 So I'm going to click on this shape.
• 00:29 Now if I wanted some text in there I'll type in the word Start.
• 00:33 So let's say I want to give more information to the end user.
• 00:37 So I'm going to go ahead and click on that shape.
• 00:40 And we'll pick on the Insert menu, and we'll pick on Screen Tip right over here.
• 00:45 So I'll just say,
• 00:49 this is the beginning of
• 00:54 the process, start here.
• 01:00 Then I'm going to click on OK.
• 01:02 So if I click to a different shape, of course,
• 01:05 all the different shapes can have their own screen tips.
• 01:08 Now watch, I'm going to move my mouse towards that shape.
• 01:12 And I'm just going to leave my mouse there, and
• 01:15 then the screen tip will come up when we just hover on that shape.
• 01:19 So it's just a great way to add more information to that shape and
• 01:23 give the end user more information.
• 01:26 So we're just going to click on a shape, and
• 01:29 then I'll pick on Screen Tip and you type in your text,
• 01:40 And then when I move my mouse to that shape, then the screen tip will show up.
• 01:45 All right, so
• 01:46 that's how you can add more information to each shape by using screen tips.
