In this module, you will learn how you can easily reuse your favorite shapes in other diagrams or within the same diagram.

Instructions

To open the Favorites Stencil: 

  • Click on More Shapes, then My Shapes, then click on Favorites. You will then see the Favorites stencil on the left. You can drag shapes into the Favorites stencil.

Reminder: Be sure to save the Favorites stencil, so then your shapes will be in the Favorites stencil from that point forward and will be available in any diagram.

  • 00:03 Let's say you have a shape that you just want to use in other diagrams, or in
  • 00:09 other pages, and you just really want to use this shape over and over again.
  • 00:14 So let's say we have that green chair, and we just love that green chair.
  • 00:19 So what we're going to do is we're going to add that to the favorites.
  • 00:24 So what we can do is we're going to open up the favorites stencil.
  • 00:27 So I'm going to go ahead and pick on More Shapes.
  • 00:32 And then I'll pick on My Shapes, and
  • 00:34 then remember the favorites that we talked about in a previous last installment.
  • 00:38 So I'm going to opened up that stencil, okay?
  • 00:41 So now I'm going to go ahead and pick up the green chair and
  • 00:45 drag it into the favorites stencil.
  • 00:48 Good, so it says it's open for read only, would you like to edit the stencil?
  • 00:53 And I'll say Yes there.
  • 00:55 And now the green chair is part of the favorites.
  • 00:59 Now when you add things into that, you really want to make sure that you save
  • 01:04 the favorites, otherwise, you'll lose that, all right?
  • 01:08 So now I just kind of picked it up from the favorites and
  • 01:11 drag it back into the diagram, so it's back there again.
  • 01:15 All right, so let's go to a different diagram.
  • 01:18 So I'm going to pick on File and then Open, and
  • 01:22 I'll go back to another one over here.
  • 01:27 All right, and then so watch, I'm going to go get the favorites again,
  • 01:32 under More Shapes, I'll pick on My Shapes and then Favorites.
  • 01:37 And then the favorites stencil is now available for us,
  • 01:41 and then there's the chair, right?
  • 01:44 Now it actually picks up the color of this particular diagram.
  • 01:47 So I'll just pick up the chair and move it into the diagram.
  • 01:51 All right, so you move something into your favorites, and
  • 01:55 then make sure you save that favorites folder so that other diagrams and
  • 01:59 other drawings can get to it as well as.
  • 02:02 And so we can just constantly reuse that same shape over and over again.
