Named Workspaces
Named workspaces should ideally be used over My Workspace for sharing content. They also have the benefit that access can be granted to multiple team members and/or reassigned in the future.
Instructions
Creating a Named Workspace:
- Go to powerbi.com and log in
- Go to Workspaces > + New Workspace
- Define a name and description and add other users
Managing users:
- In the workspace go to Manage Users
Publishing to a Named Workspace:
- Works the same as publishing to My Workspace…
- When publishing from Power BI Desktop, the user will see all named workspaces that they have access to
Hints & tips
- It is always a good idea to add another administrator to a named workspace so that they can take over when you are no longer with the company.
- Users do NOT need to be given workspace access to view reports, dashboards, or apps shared from the workspace.
- Users given access to the workspace will be able to see all documents uploaded.
- IT may disable your ability to create new workspaces.
