Login to download- 00:03 There's a lot to think about when you're delivering a slide show to the audience,
- 00:07 such as what you're currently speaking about,
- 00:09 thinking of what's on the next slide.
- 00:11 You're wondering whether the timing is going okay, or
- 00:14 if you're being a little slow, or even if you're going to get interruptions and
- 00:18 questions from the audience.
- 00:19 Now Presenter View, which I've enabled here on the slideshow tab of PowerPoint,
- 00:24 is a fantastic resource to help you deliver a presentation.
- 00:28 I hit F5, and the arrangement that I have currently
- 00:31 is that you can't see Presenter View on my current computer.
- 00:34 I have an external monitor hooked up, but it might be a data projector or
- 00:39 any kind of arrangement.
- 00:40 We can see a preview of the slide that the audience also sees, and
- 00:44 as we click the audience gets an instant update of what's in this slide.
- 00:49 We get some features such as being able to show the taskbar on my computer,
- 00:52 the display settings, if I want to swap the views around.
- 00:56 We can end the slide show, or use the escape key on the keyboard.
- 01:00 We get the timing for the presentation so we know how we're going.
- 01:04 We can pause the slide show, particularly if it's running automatically.
- 01:07 Or we can restart the timer if say,
- 01:09 another person gets up to present another part of the presentation.
- 01:13 Over here we can see the actual next animation, so as I click,
- 01:17 this animation will come in on the slide.
- 01:19 And I can see the next slide contains a chart, as well as,
- 01:23 we have the notes from the notes page.
- 01:26 So that if all else fails and
- 01:27 I forget what I'm talking about, we get some prompts here that we can use.
- 01:31 We have some pen options, so
- 01:33 if I click we can get a laser pointer just to highlight ares on the slide.
- 01:37 Or we get a pin and we can draw some annotations on the slide, or
- 01:41 focus on a particular area if that helps.
- 01:44 Escape key, how we got back to our arrow, move along to the chart,
- 01:49 we've got a little feature that allows us to see all of our slides
- 01:52 if we need to quickly jump over to a different slide.
- 01:56 Click and it's replaced.
- 01:58 We can zoom in on a particular part of the presentation, move that around with
- 02:03 the mouse, hit escape, and then we're back to our full slide preview.
- 02:07 We can blacken the screen if we want to go away and talk a little while, or
- 02:11 answer questions in between our presentation.
- 02:14 Clicking again brings it back, or
- 02:16 even the B key on the computer keyboard, as well as, some further options.
- 02:21 The most important feature, and the one that I love,
- 02:23 is to hit the F1 key, which is the help key while your running a presentation.
- 02:28 This is great for rehearsal, because you can learn all of those keyboard short cuts
- 02:32 that work, such as the B key.
- 02:34 Which we currently mention to blacken the screen, and the B key brings it back.
- 02:39 We have rehearsing and recording shortcuts, some media shortcuts,
- 02:44 ink, and laser pointer shortcuts, particularly if you have a tablet,
- 02:48 as well as, touch if you have a product such as Microsoft Surface.
- 02:51 So Presenter View is amazing,
- 02:54 it will not replace practice at a good presentation, but it will certainly help.
- 02:58 It's well worth your time learning and practicing to help you present better.
