Hints & tips
- Get inspired by reasearching product page layouts on Pinterest.
- 00:04 It's time now to build an Our Products slide.
- 00:07 And this type of slide is mainly used to advertise the products or
- 00:11 services that you're pitching to the particular client.
- 00:15 And of course, there's numerous different ways that you can design these,
- 00:18 not necessarily just how I've done mine.
- 00:20 But what I've tried to do here is keep this fairly simple and straightforward.
- 00:24 Because the main thing that I want to show you in this particular lesson
- 00:29 is how to hyperlink or jump to other slides in your presentation.
- 00:34 So if we very quickly run this presentation from the current side,
- 00:38 what you'll notice is that as I hover over any of these pictures,
- 00:42 I get a little screen tip pop up.
- 00:45 So for example, this one says Click to Jump to Live Training.
- 00:49 If I click, it's going to jump me to the Live Training side,
- 00:52 which gives a little bit more detail about that particular subject.
- 00:58 Now, one thing you'll notice here is that it's not quite as easy to jump back
- 01:02 because I haven't put any kind of backlink on here.
- 01:05 But we're going to deal with that in this lesson.
- 01:08 For the time being, I'm going to press Escape.
- 01:10 And what you'll notice is that in the Slides pane, I've created a brand new
- 01:15 slide for each of these different disciplines, and that is really important.
- 01:20 If you're going to start creating links to jump to other slides, you need to make
- 01:24 sure you have all of the slides set up first before you add in the hyperlink.
- 01:29 So in this lesson, we're going to start out by creating this Our Products side,
- 01:33 then I'm going to show you briefly how I created this particular slide.
- 01:37 And this is a very straightforward design, just using shapes and images.
- 01:41 And then I'm going to show you how you can hyperlink to different slides and
- 01:45 also create things like your own back button.
- 01:48 So let's get started.
- 01:50 So I've already created a few background slides to use in this example.
- 01:55 So the first thing we want to do is create that main product page.
- 01:58 Now, as I said, loads of different ways that you can do this.
- 02:02 But to create the one that I just showed you,
- 02:04 we're just going to use our favorite thing in the world, which is shapes.
- 02:08 So let's grab our rectangle, and
- 02:10 I'm going to start mapping out where I want my different pictures to be.
- 02:15 So we're going to have a one shape just here.
- 02:18 I'm going to Ctrl+D to duplicate and move that across.
- 02:22 I'm going to leave a bit of a gap and I'm going to make this one narrower.
- 02:27 Ctrl+D again, and let's have another one that's pretty much just as narrow.
- 02:32 Ctrl+D, we're going to have one underneath, but
- 02:36 this one's going to be a little bit thinner.
- 02:39 Ctrl+D again, and this one is going to take up the rest of the remaining space.
- 02:45 So basically we're going to have images of slightly different sizes just to add
- 02:48 a little bit of interest.
- 02:50 Now, I'm going to select all of these shapes and
- 02:52 I'm going to remove the outline.
- 02:55 And I'm also going to group them together by pressing Ctrl+G.
- 02:58 And if I want to widen them as a group, I can.
- 03:01 And I'm going to use my alignment tools to
- 03:04 make sure that this is dead in the center and also in the middle.
- 03:10 Now, if you want to add a title at the top like I did,
- 03:12 then you might want to leave a little bit of room.
- 03:14 So maybe I want to make this a little bit narrower and a little bit wider, like so.
- 03:21 Now that I've mapped out the general shape, I can start adding in my pictures.
- 03:26 And we're going to do this in exactly the same way that we filled shapes with
- 03:29 pictures before.
- 03:30 Now, remember, if you have grouped your shapes,
- 03:33 you need to ungroup them first before you do this, so Ctrl+Shift+G.
- 03:38 So let's do the first one together.
- 03:39 Right-click, Format Shape, hopefully by now you're getting this idea,
- 03:44 down to Picture or text to fill, Insert, and I'm going to select From a File.
- 03:49 And let's select our first one just here for voiceovers.
- 03:53 And I'm going to use my favorite, Crop > Fill,
- 03:56 to make sure that that isn't squished in any way.
- 04:00 Let's just move that around and click on Crop.
- 04:03 And I'm going to use exactly the same method to fill out the rest
- 04:06 of these shapes.
- 04:07 So join me in a couple of seconds when I've done that.
- 04:10 Now that I've filled those shapes with pictures,
- 04:13 I think I actually do want a border around all of these.
- 04:15 So let's select them all, jump up to Shape Format.
- 04:19 And I'm going to add a white outline,
- 04:21 just to make them stand out from the background a little bit.
- 04:25 I'm now going to add some labels to these pictures.
- 04:28 So again, this is just a basic shape.
- 04:29 And this time I'm going to use a rounded rectangle.
- 04:33 I'm going to drag and just make this label about that big.
- 04:38 I'm going to change the Shape Fill, and let's do a darker green color.
- 04:45 And I'm going to give this a white outline.
- 04:49 And I think that outline is a little bit thick,
- 04:51 so let's change the weight to something like that.
- 04:55 And then I'm going to add my text.
- 05:00 Now, I think that text is very slightly too large,
- 05:03 so let's take that down to something like 14 points.
- 05:07 And then I'm just going to drag this in a little bit, like so.
- 05:13 I'm going to add one of these labels for each of these pictures.
- 05:16 So again, join me in a couple of moments when I've done that.
- 05:20 And the final thing I want to do, just to finish off this slide,
- 05:23 is add in a heading.
- 05:24 And again, because I'm lazy, I like to grab things from other slides that
- 05:29 are already formatted in the way I want them formatted,
- 05:32 as it just saves a little bit of time.
- 05:35 So if I scroll back and this will do,
- 05:37 I want this heading to look the same as this Meet the Team heading.
- 05:41 Ctrl+C to copy, scroll back down, Ctrl+V to paste.
- 05:47 And then you can move that into position,
- 05:51 and obviously modify the text to Our Products.
- 05:55 So I basically have my main slide ready to go.
- 06:00 What I need to do next is create the slides that I want to link to and
- 06:04 then insert my hyperlinks.
- 06:06 So we're going to do that over in the next lesson.
- 06:08 So I'm going to head over there now, and I look forward to you joining me.
- 06:11 That's the end of part one.
- 06:13 This lesson continues in part two.
