Understanding Todoist Karma
Todoist Karma is a way of managing how well you're doing in Todoist.
Seeing how many tasks you've completed in the day and how many tasks have been done week to week can help you grasp progress and helps to gamify your Todoist account.

Hints & tips

- Set Karma goals that push you without putting pressure on your work
- 00:04 Hello everyone, and welcome back to this GoSkills course, All About Todoist.
- 00:09 Now we talked about a range of things in this final section, from templates to
- 00:13 emailing in comments to emailing in tasks, all the way to emoji usage.
- 00:17 And we're going to finalize it, we're talking about Todoist Karma.
- 00:21 Now, Todoist Karma is a great way and a great motivator to be able to track how
- 00:26 well you're doing with your task management.
- 00:28 Now, Todoist Karma is accessible in the top right-hand corner, and
- 00:32 you normally see it with a tiny little pie chart with a number to the right of it.
- 00:36 Todoist Karma essentially tracks how many tasks you've completed.
- 00:40 Your completion streak, as well as completed tasks and activity log.
- 00:44 So from this window,
- 00:46 you'll be able to see from here how many completed tasks you've done so far.
- 00:50 So in this account, we've completed 33 completed tasks, and
- 00:54 you can set a daily goal.
- 00:56 Now the daily goal is a great way to get started,
- 00:58 especially, if you're looking to accomplish stuff during your day.
- 01:02 It's a great target and motivator.
- 01:05 So I can always edit the goal in Settings.
- 01:07 If I click Edit, it will bring me to the Settings page, and
- 01:10 I can essentially set the daily goal.
- 01:12 In this case I'm going to set it to 7 and hit Save.
- 01:16 You can also edit the weekly goal here, so if I wanted to edit to maybe 20,
- 01:20 little lower than expected.
- 01:22 And below here, you can set off weekends or set off certain days.
- 01:27 So for example, let's say we have Wednesday off, Saturday and Sunday.
- 01:31 And that means any streaks that you have won't be broken and
- 01:34 your Karma won't be affected those days.
- 01:37 Now, if you want, you can even turn on vacation mode.
- 01:40 So if you're on a break, karma won't be affected and
- 01:43 you'll still be able to achieve your goals.
- 01:45 If I wanted to I click Karma and see actually what level I am currently at.
- 01:50 Karma is broken into a multitude of levels, so
- 01:53 let's dive into what levels you can achieve.
- 01:55 The beginner level is between 0 to 500 karma points, and
- 02:00 of course, you build karma points by completing tasks.
- 02:03 And you can see a log of how many completed tasks you've got and
- 02:06 you lose points as well when you have overdue tasks.
- 02:10 Now, you can build up your Todoist karma all the way to something called
- 02:14 Enlightened with 50,000 plus Karma points.
- 02:18 If you want to track and visualize your account,
- 02:20 from here you can see karma trends, so how well you're doing per day.
- 02:24 Todoist Karma although, not necessarily a definitive number of your productivity,
- 02:29 it's a great way to reward yourself and
- 02:31 outline how well you're doing with your Todoist account.
- 02:35 So as you can imagine, this is a great improvement section,
- 02:38 so you can view here and improve it down there.
- 02:41 If I wanted to, I can click View all task, and
- 02:44 actually see an activity log of what I've done over the last couple of weeks.
- 02:48 Hopefully, that gave you a nice overview of your activity log,
- 02:51 as well as Karma inside of Todoist.
- 02:54 Now, we're going to dive into the course summary which is going to round
- 02:57 everything off for you.
- 02:58 Thanks very much, and we'll see you in the next feature, cheers.
