Login to download- 00:04 Once you've started to add a number of cards to your board,
- 00:08 it can be helpful to start to differentiate some of these cards.
- 00:12 As you can see here, everything is shown with a white background and dark text.
- 00:18 But what if I'd like to highlight some of these cards
- 00:21 maybe I like to highlight their importance, or their status, and
- 00:26 make it different than some of the other cards listed here.
- 00:29 Trello gives us the ability to add labels to our cards.
- 00:33 To do so, we select the edit icon here,
- 00:36 and the very first option is Edit labels.
- 00:40 By selecting edit labels,
- 00:42 we have the ability to add a variety of colors to each and any card.
- 00:48 Let's say I'd like this first card to be labeled green, meaning it's something I'd
- 00:52 like to focus my attention on sooner than the other cards on this list.
- 00:57 I simply select the desired color,
- 00:59 and you will notice that there is a little checkbox which appears,
- 01:02 indicating that I have selected it, and that it is now attached to this card.
- 01:08 Now, after selecting save you will notice that
- 01:10 color now appears on the top of the card, and
- 01:14 it can be a helpful way to differentiate this card from other cards in my list.
- 01:19 Now you have the ability to add labels another way from within a Trello card.
- 01:25 Here you see on the right hand side, we have an Add labels button.
- 01:30 By selecting that button, again, we can add the green label, and
- 01:35 we even have the ability to add multiple labels at once.
- 01:39 You can add more than one label to a Trello card.
- 01:43 And again, this can be a helpful way to differentiate the difference between
- 01:47 status importance any other way that you would like to label or
- 01:53 highlight particular cards.
- 01:55 Now if you'd like to go beyond just
- 01:58 colors you also have the ability to add labels to those cards.
- 02:03 To the right of each label you will see that there is an edit icon.
- 02:07 And here I can actually add a piece of text.
- 02:10 In this case, I'm gonna select High.
- 02:13 You see, I now have that label attached directly to that particular color.
- 02:19 Next to my yellow, let's give this one an importance of Medium.
- 02:24 Just like that.
- 02:25 And now I have some actual text which is attached to each of these labels.
- 02:31 So the front of our card will remain with just the colors to try and keep it simple,
- 02:37 that we're not adding too much information to the front of each card.
- 02:41 But if you hover over the label, it will actually tell you.
- 02:45 The helpful text will actually tell you what that label means.
- 02:50 If we decide to click on the card and open up the details, or
- 02:54 the contents of that card, you will also see that those labels appear here as well.
- 03:00 So we can see precisely what they mean.
- 03:03 It's important to note that labels are attached directly to a card, and
- 03:07 have no bearing on which list they are in, or what order.
- 03:11 If I choose to drag this card to a different list,
- 03:14 those labels will remain with that card.
- 03:18 Now what about if we want to remove a label?
- 03:21 Well the process is very much the same, we can select the icon here.
- 03:25 Select edit labels and then select which of the labels that are checked,
- 03:31 that you would like to deselect.
- 03:33 So in this case I'm gonna remove the High green.
- 03:36 Now that green is removed from this particular card.
- 03:40 You also have the ability to add more labels than just
- 03:43 the default six colors that we see here.
- 03:46 At the very bottom we have an option to create a new label.
- 03:50 We can give it a name and
- 03:52 they give us even a few more color options that we can choose.
- 03:56 We even have an option to have a label that does not have a color at all.
- 04:00 I'm gonna select this purple one, and I'm gonna say Status Update.
- 04:09 And now, I've created this new label, and
- 04:12 you can see it is attached to this card here.
- 04:15 Once you've started to add certain labels to your different colors,
- 04:20 you also have the ability to search those labels.
- 04:23 In case this list gets very long.
- 04:26 Labels can be a very powerful, easy way to differentiate your different cards.
- 04:32 Whether that's importance, whether that's status or
- 04:37 where it is within its particular process or workflow,
- 04:41 its another way to label or highlight particular cards.
