Login to download- 00:04 When working with your projects within Trello,
- 00:07 you will probably find it useful to add a deadline, or a due date to certain cards.
- 00:13 To do so, we have two options.
- 00:16 We can either select the edit icon here, or we can open up the card.
- 00:21 And add a due date from within.
- 00:24 Let's start by using the edit icon.
- 00:26 Near the end of this list, we see the option to change the due date.
- 00:31 And that's just the label of this option even for
- 00:34 a card which does not yet have a due date.
- 00:37 By selecting this option, we get a little pop-up calendar,
- 00:41 which gives us the ability to either enter in the date directly, by number, or
- 00:46 we can select from the calendar below.
- 00:49 Now, it should be noted that a specific time must be attached to each and
- 00:55 every due date.
- 00:56 And I'll show why that's important, as the color of our due date will change
- 01:01 depending on how close, or perhaps how overdue our particular Trello card is.
- 01:07 So, I'm gonna select a date in the future and hit Save.
- 01:12 And, now, you can see on the front of my card, I have a little clock icon,
- 01:17 and the actual due date, letting me know that this card has a due date.
- 01:22 But what will happen if we get closer to this date?
- 01:26 What will happen if we are within 24 hours.
- 01:29 Of this due date.
- 01:31 This time I'm going to open up the card, and
- 01:34 I can either edit the due date by clicking on it directly, or
- 01:38 I can select the Due Date button here on the right-hand side.
- 01:42 By selecting the Due Date,
- 01:43 I'm gonna select a date that is within 24 hours of right now.
- 01:48 As I hit Save, you will notice that my due date has now changed color,
- 01:54 and that will also appear on the front of the card.
- 01:57 This can be a helpful indicator letting me know
- 02:00 that I have something due within 24 hours.
- 02:05 Now, what if we don't get to this task in time?
- 02:07 What will happen if it becomes overdue?
- 02:10 Well, this time I'm gonna click on the due date directly.
- 02:14 And I'm gonna pick a date in the past and hit Save.
- 02:17 The final color that we see here is red, indicating that it is past due.
- 02:23 So, again, another colorful,
- 02:26 helpful indicator letting us know when something is due, or if it is past due.
- 02:33 Now, one other thing we want to keep in mind when it comes to our due dates
- 02:37 is that Trello gives us the ability to check things off, or
- 02:41 to indicate that something is completed.
- 02:44 No matter what the status is.
- 02:46 Whether this is due a week from now, within 24 hours, or
- 02:51 if it's past due you will always see this check box here to the left.
- 02:56 And so, if you have completed the contents of this card no matter what this card
- 03:00 represents, if you select this check box, now, the due date will turn green,
- 03:07 indicating that you have completed whatever task, or
- 03:11 whatever is represented with this card.
- 03:13 So, due dates can be a very powerful way to manage your different cards,
- 03:18 manage the things within your workflow, or within your processes.
- 03:23 And the different colors can give you helpful indicators as to if things
- 03:27 are overdue, past due, or due in the short term.
