Login to download- 00:05 Once you've added a large number of cards to any Trello board, it may start to get
- 00:10 a little difficult to find the particular card or cards that you're looking for.
- 00:16 So let's take a look at how we can filter the cards on any Trello board.
- 00:21 To take advantage of filtering,
- 00:23 select the Show Menu option in the top right-hand corner.
- 00:28 On the Menu option, you will see the ability to Filter Cards.
- 00:32 By selecting this option, we get a variety of ways of how we can filter
- 00:37 all of the cards that exist on this board.
- 00:40 Now, our first option is to simply search for a particular word.
- 00:45 We're gonna look at that in a bit more detail in the very next video.
- 00:49 But for now, let's take a look at some of the preset and
- 00:53 other options that we can use within the filtering system.
- 00:57 First, we can search by Labels.
- 01:00 And we can either search by No Labels or cards that have a particular label.
- 01:05 So let's say I want to just see the cards that have the label of this green High.
- 01:11 By selecting that, I can see that there's only three cards on this board
- 01:16 that have that particular label.
- 01:18 Now, when you choose any filtering option,
- 01:21 you will notice a few changes to your Trello board.
- 01:24 First, you will see this green
- 01:27 Filtering is on label in the top right-hand corner of your board.
- 01:32 This is to let you know that you are looking
- 01:34 at a filtered version of your board.
- 01:38 And if you wish to turn off the filtering, you can always select the X here.
- 01:43 Another difference that you will notice is that just below each and every one of
- 01:48 your lists, you can see a description showing the total number of cards.
- 01:54 So that even though we are viewing only two cards in this particular list,
- 01:59 the only two cards that meet this filtering criteria, it is letting
- 02:04 us know that there is actually a total of four cards in this list.
- 02:09 Even though there is only two that match our criteria.
- 02:13 Now to deselect a filtering criteria, you can simply select that option again and
- 02:18 now we're back to an unfiltered list.
- 02:21 Now you can also combine multiple options when filtering for cards.
- 02:26 So for example, if I select the green label and the yellow label,
- 02:31 now I see all of the cards that either have green or yellow attached to them.
- 02:39 At the very bottom of the filter cards list,
- 02:42 you will see that there is an option to choose between Matches any label and
- 02:47 any member or Matches all labels and all members.
- 02:53 And you may want to take special notice of what this has selected.
- 02:57 In this case, it is showing us everything that either has green or yellow.
- 03:03 But if I make the second selection,
- 03:06 it is only gonna show cards that have both green and yellow.
- 03:10 I'm gonna go back and select the default option here.
- 03:15 Now beyond just searching for labels, you can also search by members or
- 03:20 people who have been assigned to a particular card.
- 03:23 I can look at all the cards that are unassigned or
- 03:26 perhaps I just want to look at the cards that are assigned to me.
- 03:31 I can also filter cards by their due date and
- 03:34 there's a variety of different options as to how we can filter out those cards.
- 03:38 Perhaps I only want to look at things that are due in the next week.
- 03:43 And now you can see,
- 03:44 I only have one card at this point that is due within the coming week.
- 03:49 Now you don't have to keep this Filter cards menu open while you view your board.
- 03:55 If I select the X here, I can still see the filtered version of this board.
- 04:01 And, of course,
- 04:02 that green indicator is letting me know that filtering is currently on.
- 04:07 If I want quick access to that filter, I can select the Fiiltering is on link and
- 04:12 now I can make changes or adjustments to my filter.
- 04:16 If I'd like to turn off the filter, I can just select this X here and
- 04:21 now I am back to my original board.
- 04:24 So, take some time to experiment with filtering.
- 04:28 Get comfortable with finding what you're looking for.
