Login to download- 00:05 Notifications within Trello can be a helpful way to be alerted of changes to
- 00:10 cards that you have either been assigned to or are subscribed to.
- 00:14 In the top right hand corner,
- 00:16 the notifications icon will change to red if you have new notifications.
- 00:23 You will also see a new notification icon on the particular cards
- 00:28 where something has changed and you have subscribed to that card.
- 00:32 If I select the red notification icon here,
- 00:35 I will see the new notification at the top of the list and
- 00:39 I will also see a summary of all of my recent notifications here as well.
- 00:45 I have the opportunity to click directly on the link, directly on the cards,
- 00:50 so I can go and see or address the change that is made.
- 00:54 As soon as I click away from this menu,
- 00:57 the notification color will return to blue.
- 01:01 Now, Trello will also send you email notifications,
- 01:05 which can be helpful to alert you of changes that are being made
- 01:08 when you are not viewing your active Trello window.
- 01:13 But you may want to wish to change how frequently that you receive
- 01:17 those notifications.
- 01:19 To change your email notifications,
- 01:21 start by clicking on your Trello name and then selecting Settings.
- 01:27 About half way down this screen you will see a section titled Notifications.
- 01:33 The first option is to change the Notification Email Frequency.
- 01:38 Now by default, when you first set up your Trello account,
- 01:42 it will be set to Instantly, meaning that any notification,
- 01:46 any change that is made to a subscribed card will be emailed to
- 01:50 the address that you associate with your Trello account as soon as it happens.
- 01:56 Now this may be too frequent for
- 01:58 you, so you may want to choose one of the other two options.
- 02:02 The Periodically option, will send an email about once an hour and
- 02:07 that's only if a notification or a change is warranted.
- 02:12 What this means is, if someone else on your team makes
- 02:15 a number of changes within a Trello board to cards which you have subscribed,
- 02:20 it will wait approximately one hour before it will send you the email.
- 02:26 And instead of sending you several emails in the event of several changes,
- 02:31 it will send you one notification
- 02:34 email summarizing all the changes which have been made.
- 02:38 The last option here is to Never send an email notification.
- 02:43 So, you may want to experiment and find out which one is best for you.
- 02:48 The second option underneath the Notifications setting
- 02:52 is Allow Desktop Notifications.
- 02:55 Most modern browsers such as Safari, or Chrome, or
- 03:00 Firefox will allow the ability to have programs and
- 03:03 websites to notify you right here within your web browser.
- 03:08 If you wish to turn on desktop notifications,
- 03:12 select this option, and then you may need to give permission
- 03:16 to the browser which is making such a request.
