Integrating with Cloud Storage Services.docx70.9 KB
Quick reference
Integrating with Cloud Storage Services
Get the file sharing services you already use integrated with Trello so you can attach files directly to cards.
When to use
To learn how to enable power-ups for file storage services. To understand the benefits of accessing your cloud-based files directly from Trello.
Instructions
Power-ups give your boards additional features and integrations with other applications. Boards belonging to free users can turn on one power-up at a time while boards belonging to business class users can have unlimited power-ups.
Enabling Power-Ups
Enable power-ups by selecting Power-Ups from the board menu. Then select Enable or Disable to activate or deactivate the power-ups you would like to use. NOTE: You have to be a member of that board's team to enable power-ups.
Adding Attachments to Cards
Attachments from Google Drive, Dropbox, Box and OneDrive link directly to the document in its respective location. Documents that are attached with Google Drive and OneDrive can be edited and saved within their respective applications and do not need to be reattached to a card.
Login to download- 00:05 In an earlier video I showed you how to attach images and
- 00:08 other files directly to a Trello card from your computer.
- 00:13 However, chances are that you or your team are using cloud storage services
- 00:19 such as Google Drive or Dropbox to manage your files.
- 00:25 So let's take a look at how we can enable one of our cloud storage services
- 00:30 within the Power-Ups menu.
- 00:32 I use Google Drive so I'm going to enable the Google Drive Power-Up.
- 00:38 And you will notice that there will be a new link, a new icon, which displays
- 00:42 in the top portion of your board, very much like the calendar icon we saw before.
- 00:48 Now unlike the calendar link,
- 00:50 by selecting this link, you will not get many new options, in fact the only
- 00:55 option that is presented is the ability to create a slide presentation.
- 01:01 Now this may be helpful if you would like to convert your entire Trello board
- 01:06 into a PowerPoint presentation.
- 01:09 But the real power of the Google Drive Power-Up is when you go to attach a file.
- 01:16 Let's open up this card and let's say I would like to attach a new PDF,
- 01:21 I'm going to select the Attachment button and I'm gonna select Google Drive.
- 01:27 And because I've enabled this power-up, I get direct access to my
- 01:31 Google Drive account, and I'm going to select this PDF here.
- 01:37 I now have this file attached directly to this card but
- 01:42 more importantly, I have other information which is related to this card.
- 01:48 I see information such as, when was this file created in Google Drive and
- 01:52 when was it last modified in Google Drive and by whom.
- 01:57 I can open up this file directly so it's not a static attachment,
- 02:03 I can always have the most current version of this file when I access it here.
- 02:09 Now, you do not need to enable all of your power-ups if you want to
- 02:14 integrate with other cloud storage services.
- 02:17 By selecting this Attachment button,
- 02:19 you can go directly to your other storage services as well.
- 02:23 If I was to select Dropbox, all I would need to do is sign in and
- 02:28 I could access my Dropbox files directly.
- 02:31 However, if I do not enable the Dropbox Power-Up,
- 02:37 I will not see information such as the creation date or the modified date.
- 02:44 So, you may wish to enable the power-up for
- 02:46 the service that you use most often, but you can still upload and
- 02:51 still attach files directly from your multiple services.
